    I bought a water cooler and it's been on the shelf for over 2 years+ now as i'm scared it might blow up my computer

    The fluid within it should be non-conductive. Secondly, if it leaks, fails and the CPU gets hot it should throttle and also shut down if it gets critical. By that point, you'd probably have noticed a puddle.
