Nope, too expense, a disk based One S can be had for £180-£230 (new!!!).
Why would i buy a non disk version if they're the same price, absolutely stupid!
Edit: Even on their own store there is a £30 difference and that's it! Sure it comes with 3 games but that's icing on top, not a USP

3 games you can't trade away either!

Its about the difference in cost of the drive, why would it be cheaper? This is likely eventually just going end up replacing the disc version.

And all available with game pass which is essential for this version... If it was a bit cheaper it would be a bargain as Game pass is pretty amazing if you take advantage of offers (9 months for £25 thanks Microsoft!). I can't help but feel this at £100~£120 would have flown off the shelves.
Re: Xbox One S All Digital officially announced by Microsoft
But if you stop paying for the game pass you have diddly squat lol

I don't think you get the principle of the "wth are they thinking" regarding this topic.
Basically it's "no discs so no second hand sales or picking up a game for cheap on sale or borrowing from a mate all for the wonderful £30 you get to keep in your back pocket" . I could save more money by using second hand and faffing with discs.
It's not just about the loss of the price of the drive, screw the cogs cost, that drive probably cost Microsoft 50p to implement (i know, its more likely a pound fifty). It's about how much else is lost with the change and the TCO has to offset that.

Re: Xbox One S All Digital officially announced by Microsoft
If a replacement drive for a One S costs me £30 one off from Amazon, they are probably under a fiver to Microsoft in bulk. So if Microsoft are saying they want to make this box £50 cheaper, I guess they must be seeing some value to them to get the money back. Which sounds like bad value to us.
Do USB drives work in a One S?

No, the Xbox one drives have daughterboards that are hardcoded to make sure that they match the mainboard.
Re: Xbox One S All Digital officially announced by Microsoft
I wouldn't want to buy a console without an optical drive. I have never owned an xbox so don't know what the cost of the games are if purchased from the store but from my experience on playstation the games always seem to be full retail cost if purchased digitally. digital games should be cheaper due to no packaging shipping etc but it isn't normally true. in the past I purchased some expansion packs for World of warcraft on amazon on disc as it was cheaper to buy 3 expansions packs on disc compared to buying one digital direct from blizzard.

That is exactly what I was thinking it was about as well forcing people to pay full retail cost of the digital downloads
