Given you can buy an 8GB RX580 for that sort of money, I suspect the price will drop pretty quickly.

It genuinely wouldn't make sense though. The 1680 would be an expensive card regardless - anyone buying it will be able to afford RTX 2070/2080

A 1680ti using all the die area for conventional shaders would in current games be faster than a 2080ti though with its idle ray tracing and AI silicon. I can see lots of people wanting that, but hell will freeze over before Nvidia make one.
