Re: QOTW: Which CPU are you using?

    Intel Core i7 7700K, stock.

Purely a moderate gaming machine with a higher end GPU, GTX 1080 Ti and Gsync 1440p/165hz monitor. I have absolutely zero complaints as the balance of these items results in few if any bottlenecks, rending every thing I play in liquid smoothness of a sort no PC I've owned before conveyed.

Upgrade in my immediate future? Absolutely not. I do not foresee any game disappointing me for years to come on this setup.

Upgrade in 2-3 years? Most likely. We'll be well into 7nm territory on CPUs and GPUs alike and likely DDR5 system ram and GDDR6X vram. It will take all of that to make me consider it.

I'm using an i7 6700K for mostly gaming, some artwork and everyday use. Haven't seen anything to tempt me to upgrade so far.

2700K, upgrading to Zen2 when it comes out and I am beyond excited.

Re: QOTW: Which CPU are you using?

    9700K.

Purely based on benchmarks in games, the difference to the 9900K in games I play wasn't worth the extra money, plus the consideration of the extra heat I'd need to contend with also played a factor in my decision (limited space in my case, didn't want to change the case).

Re: QOTW: Which CPU are you using?

i5 6600K @ 4.5Ghz for gaming, mostly. I'd like to upgrade for something with more umph because 4 cores 4 threads are becoming rather limited.

Ryzen 1600x, seems ok at the moment for gaming and tasks, so yeah happy with it.

Re: QOTW: Which CPU are you using?

R3 1200 humming along at 3.5 GHz @ 1.2 V. It's good enough for now, but will probably get replaced with zen 2

Re: QOTW: Which CPU are you using?

    1) i7 2860QM in my laptop (hacked into a ThinkPad T420)
    2) i7 4785T in my HTPC
    3) i5 4670K in my gaming rig

All do what they need to do, so there's no need for me to change any.

But I do feel the itch to replace all...
    1) ThinkPad X1 extreme gen 2
    2) Zen 2 with a load of cores of the TDP can get low enough (I guess the replacement for 2700E)
    3) I'm waiting to go 4k gaming, so I guess that one will hold out a little while longer as it's well matched to my current 970GTX and I'm not about to pay the price for a 2080 or above.

    i5-4690k, stock.

going to be replaced with either the (rumored) 16 core Ryzen 3 or a comparable Intel CPU along with a 2080ti (or AMD equivalent/or Nvidia equivalent) middle or end of next year.

Re: QOTW: Which CPU are you using?

i5 3570K still and unfortunately stock clocked. It's handled me very well, I haven't had many complaints with performance, but am starting to look towards zen 2, particularly with all of the vulnerabilities intel seems to be getting in addition to their slower progress and high cost.

Re: QOTW: Which CPU are you using?

i5 66ooK stock but with water cooling. Dont really play many games but the odd one or two that I do, theres no issue at all. No plans to upgrade this particular PC anytime soon. May treat the family to a new general purpose laptop though.
