Assuming the usual $=£ conversion post-tax, £399 and £499 are a lot to ask for RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 beaters, respectively. I hope these aren't accurate prices, or that I'm severely mistaken.

Yeah predicted pricing Vs performance seems off. We need 2060 perf for £275, and 2070 perf for £350 to make these compelling options.
Why does it need to undercut the 2070 by ~£150? If its got the same(or better) then just having it even on price is OK, lower is obviously better but I dont see why they wouldnt be compelling even if they were price matched.Quote:

My values were just crude, I hadn't tailored them to the nearest £10, maybe they can get away with £380? It definitely needs to be this side of £400 or they don't have much chance of moving them due the aformentioned mindshare nVidia has. They need to build brand loyality by offering a compelling product and an attractive price. I'd suggest that means undercutting nvidia by 20% in price, and outperforming them by at least 10%.
This generation of nvidia products and AMD's positioning, being first to 7nm, is the best they're going to get for a good while, and they need to seize the opportunity to secure a PR victory if they're going to increase market presence.
It wouldn't exactly be £150 if the RTX2070 can be bought sub £450. So being pricier is kinda an issue.Quote:

I agree, midrange used to spend £600 on everything besides keyboard and mouse and you have a good spec pc. Now it has to be a grand or you cant play fortnite. But the gap in performance is increasing in product stacks making the better stuff more expensive. I recently bought a rx570 4g for £65 from a miner and am very happy. Before the rtx launch a 1080ti could cost you close to 1k and they can now be bought for sub 500 used. but when you fit that in contrast to a true mid range card like the 580 4g there is no real value for money unless you want high res or frames.Quote:
