*sits calmly on the hype train* Please don't rickroll me AMD
Re: Sapphire: AMD will unveil two Navi SKUs on Monday (Computex)
Assuming the usual $=£ conversion post-tax, £399 and £499 are a lot to ask for RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 beaters, respectively. I hope these aren't accurate prices, or that I'm severely mistaken.

I think those prices will be based on the nitro sku's. But maybe we ask too much?

Even with a fancy cooler, that's still a lot to ask for mid-range GPUs. I would have expected these to start at the £250 price-point. Maybe £300 at a push.
Re: Sapphire: AMD will unveil two Navi SKUs on Monday (Computex)
Why would anyone buy a 2060-esque Navi at £400 when you can get a 2060 for £100 cheaper or even a Vega 64 for less?

I'd assume we'll find out soon?
I really hope RTG isn't so out of touch that it chooses to compete with itself rather than a weak NV generation..
Re: Sapphire: AMD will unveil two Navi SKUs on Monday (Computex)
Yeah predicted pricing Vs performance seems off. We need 2060 perf for £275, and 2070 perf for £350 to make these compelling options.

Why does it need to undercut the 2070 by ~£150? If its got the same(or better) then just having it even on price is OK, lower is obviously better but I dont see why they wouldnt be compelling even if they were price matched.

Because it's AMD. NVidia has the mindshare, so AMD has to undercut them quite a lot to convince the people who don't know that NVidia has been shafting them for years to switch. Unfortunately these people make up most of the target market.

But Nvidia have the money, so AMD provoking a big price war would be daft.
Re: Sapphire: AMD will unveil two Navi SKUs on Monday (Computex)
It would only be undercutting the RTX2070 by £70 to 80 in a worst/best (depending on view point) scenario. RTX2070 can be had for as little as £420.
My values were just crude, I hadn't tailored them to the nearest £10, maybe they can get away with £380? It definitely needs to be this side of £400 or they don't have much chance of moving them due the aformentioned mindshare nVidia has. They need to build brand loyality by offering a compelling product and an attractive price. I'd suggest that means undercutting nvidia by 20% in price, and outperforming them by at least 10%.
This generation of nvidia products and AMD's positioning, being first to 7nm, is the best they're going to get for a good while, and they need to seize the opportunity to secure a PR victory if they're going to increase market presence.

It wouldn't exactly be £150 if the RTX2070 can be bought sub £450. So being pricier is kinda an issue.
Re: Sapphire: AMD will unveil two Navi SKUs on Monday (Computex)
Nvidia can't drop the price of there cards by much there would be an uproar ...

If we are comparing AMD RRP with Nvidia street pricing here then perhaps there isn't an issue.
However, it does continually astound my how much people are prepared to spend on gaming rigs. The 1080ti was a massively successful card, so it seems that is the price point.

I agree, midrange used to spend £600 on everything besides keyboard and mouse and you have a good spec pc. Now it has to be a grand or you cant play fortnite. But the gap in performance is increasing in product stacks making the better stuff more expensive. I recently bought a rx570 4g for £65 from a miner and am very happy. Before the rtx launch a 1080ti could cost you close to 1k and they can now be bought for sub 500 used. but when you fit that in contrast to a true mid range card like the 580 4g there is no real value for money unless you want high res or frames.
