It's an anti-AMD spotlight announcement lets not kid ourselves![]()
Super Expensive?
PC-LAD (24-05-2019)
Super-Low Availability?
They're super!
Thanks for asking.
All things considered they couldn't be better they must say....
Good to see AMD making nVidia step up their game. We'll see whether it does anything to increase the bang4buck.
How about lower prices.
They did that to me. Bought a top of the range card at huge cost at the time, accepting the early adopter kick. A month or less later they bought out the "Ti" version which was the same price as mine and ~25% faster. I was livid and felt utterly conned as this was clearly a marketing trick and not due to processes being refined, etc.
This, added to how they're treating customers at the moment, led me to get a Vega64. I sold my old card and the total cost to upgrade was £300ish. I could have got more for the old card but I was selling it to a friend and it had been used to plot the courses of asteroids and so on so I sold it a little cheaper and gave a few months warranty on it. This means my Vega64 at my old gaming budget needs to last around 3 years. That said, I'm now gaming at 4K so, if something REALLY good comes out and I can sell my card for a decent value (given it's quite good at compute grunt work, that might be doable), I might be convinced.
Given the cost of gaming increase, at £300 I think it would be acceptable if my current card games for 1 year at 4K and another year or two at 1440P. In a year if it can't still keep up at 4K AND I'm still gaming as I am now.... I'll probably leave it. I'm just not playing as much as I was BUT I'm just not making time for myself to relax and when I do, people won't leave me alone for just 30 minutes. Today I said I wanted half an hour and was disturbed about 4 or 5 times, which makes playing an FPS kinda hard.
I think I need to set up some kind of "go away" system with a pulley, a counterweight, a shotgun and the door.
It's almost as bad as earlier tonight when I'd filled my blackboard AND whiteboard with diagrams, graphs, equations and so on and JUST at the most crucial part where I was putting it all together, plotting the final values derived from all the other work and about to prove my concept..... she wants to talk about the wedding.

Super
/ˈsuːpə/, adjective, INFORMAL
very good or pleasant; excellent.

Quite boring if you ask me ... Now if they said: "something OUTTA SPACE is coming" ... now that would have been something ..
Super-normal pricing. I'll take a 2080 at £300.
Great amazing super cul8r.
Oh, you mean super-2050 non-ti for £300. Then I guess I'll keep waiting
Early adoption always carries a risk - that can be a cost premium, risk of early supercession, or the technology bombing. Occasionally you may get a cost advantage if it is genuinely innovative and the vendor wants to gain an early market lead, but usually there are cost-to-market costs to be recovered from the early adopters.
While the early bird catches the worm, the early worm gets caught by the bird.

Maybe an affordable RTX 2080 Ti that doesn't have the RTX crap in it. Who am I kidding xD
I logged in to make a snarky comment about Nvidia but I see people have already done it. Well done chaps![]()
No RTX crap in it? Are you high? That is what will make me buy it instead of AMD...LOL. They have until xmas to put out a card with all the features NV has, or I go NV 7nm for black fridayAMD wins for cpu this year though, no matter how many we buy this year...ROFL. Pricing of 16c $499 is just stupid, so we'll upgrade all PC's this year I'd guess...LOL. I love low pricing but I hope they are wrong about it and charge much more for the sake of the company which still barely makes money and has lost like 9B over the life of the company at this point. That is hard to believe, but you can add up all of the years of AMD and you get a massive freaking loss. People don't seem to get how broke AMD has always been. Management needs to be fired if they price new cpus at what has been leaked. They will make nothing from desktops, and the only thing to save them is server cpu pricing then. There is hope with gpu pricing though if true, NV will just tack faster models on top and both companies will make money for more R&D at just the right time for all this new stuff that sucks up gpu juice (RT etc).
