As soon as you read the word 'enterprise', you know that the price has risedn by x amount. All SSDs have done is increase the price of large HDDs.

Enterprise HDDs were *always* expensive, specially when bought by the tray load for a 19 inch rack full of 8 or 10 disk raid-6 stripes. This is why they were also ripe for replacement with SSD technology being faster, more compact and similar price; I'm kind of surprised Seagate are bothering.

My 3 year replacement cycle of the drives in my NAS is looking good then- the 2x8TB can get replaced with 2x16TB. And a third 16TB will replace the 8TB in the offsite (at my parents ) backup.

    *starts saving*

And here's me just pushing out to a single 6Tb drive in my server and even that was just due to a 4Tb dying...

What is the price of a 16TB SSD in your world?
