To get $750 = £800 the exchange rate would have to be that each dollar were worth more than £1 each. According to google the dollar has always been worth less than the pound in all recent history. I wasnt able to find any example when it was ever below. So Im going to blame you, not google :P
Re: AMD Ryzen 9 3950X unveiled - 16 cores and 32 threads for gamers
but we either need to compare pre vat figures or apply vat and us sales tax. the latter is difficult due to state variations so we should compare pre vat. $750 x 0.80 = £600 so cheaper. once VAT is added the consumer price is £720. that's using the rate Google told me this morning.
edit: I bet the rrp is set higher than that though in the UK.

For $750 to equal £800 inc VAt you'd need ~88p/dollar, which is still unusually high

Have you seen the trend? Add a little bit of early adopter premium and I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest by a £800 tag.

The US figure doesnt include US sales tax either. Im not saying it wont be £800 after tax and ripoff britain, but the OP of this stated $750 = £800 and implied they looked up the exchange rate on google. They even defended that a second time saying that is really what Google told them. Well they looked it up wrong, because there is no way it would give you £800 as an answer

US sticker prices don't include tax, so RRP conversions always have to take VAT into account
