Does this mean that Intel will now say that Samsung's 14nm process is in any way equivalent to their own? Doesn't seem likely. Now if the 14nm bit was the expected Intel process, and at this stage they can re-target to Samsung 7nm then that would make sense. Otherwise, this would surely get ripped apart by Zen 3.

However, Intel and Samsung are indeed talking about the latter producing "simpler designs, likely chipsets, that are far easier to outsource".

The original rumour was that Intel were talking to Samsung about VRAM for their stand alone graphics cards. That made a lot more sense.
