Ooof, so even their CPU 2 releases down the road, manufactured by someone else who's building on smaller nodes, is still going to be stuck at 14nm? That's pretty dire. RIP, Intel.

Re: Samsung to shoulder some 14nm production strain for Intel

Does this mean that Intel will now say that Samsung's 14nm process is in any way equivalent to their own? Doesn't seem likely. Now if the 14nm bit was the expected Intel process, and at this stage they can re-target to Samsung 7nm then that would make sense. Otherwise, this would surely get ripped apart by Zen 3.

Oh ho ho, this is rich.

Intel were so angrily adamant 6 months ago that they would never offload to third parties.

    And well here we are

So, the ONLY way they can come close to AMD is by using Samsung and they try to pass it off as they can't meet the demand.

Add this to all the hysterical trash talk they've been spewing too.

    Hilarious

Re: Samsung to shoulder some 14nm production strain for Intel

Sources speaking to Tom's Hardware have poured cold water on the substance of the Korean SE Daily report. It says that any contract isn't going to be for Rocket Lake production. However, Intel and Samsung are indeed talking about the latter producing "simpler designs, likely chipsets, that are far easier to outsource".

Well at least you sometimes correct an article on rumors.

Re: Samsung to shoulder some 14nm production strain for Intel

The original rumour was that Intel were talking to Samsung about VRAM for their stand alone graphics cards. That made a lot more sense.
