Why do they rate the lifetime at 25C? That's a very low operating environment temperature!

25°C is reasonable for ambient temperature and by extension intake air temperature for most cases, unless you're The Verge and mount your PSU suboptimally. Even then, if your interior case air temp is much higher than this then your case likely has inadequate airflow.

It's somewhere to start from. If you assume a halving of the lifetime for every 10 °C increase in temperature, that is still 50,000 hours at 45 °C, or nearly 4 years continuous use. A case at 45 °C might even be uncomfortable to touch.

They rate the lifetime at 100000 hours at 25°C, the operating temperature is up to 40°C. I've recently purchased a Pure Power 11 400W CM for fractionally more than this when building my mum a new PC, which comes with an extra 2 years warranty. Price wise be quiet! seem like a pretty solid build quality for what you're paying.

Are "be quiet!" power supplies any good? I've never used this brand. I've always been under the impression that Corsair are king, and that you shouldn't skimp out on the PSU with a lesser brand.

They were one of the best some time ago. However this release seems to be mehh - only Bronze rating. Nothing is changing in the PSU industry from some time. I am Happy with my 6 old XFX 750W Silver still rocking solid.

Thanks for the information. I think I'll stick with Corsair then.

Based on the reviews I decided to go seasonic last time. That and they had no fully modular psu's at the time and or more expensive than everyone else at the same tier. I don't recommend semi-modular at all for people. Fully modular or nothing.

Why is that? The non-modular part is usually just the motherboard and CPU power cables, which you're always going to need to have plugged in anyway, right? At least that's the case with the TX750M. I do think a fully modular one is slightly better, but once it's actually in the case there seems to be little difference as far as I can tell.
