    Nintendo starts offering out of warranty Joy-Con repairs in US

    However, it has been observed that it isn't being so customer friendly in the UK.

    Yeah - funny how the threat of a Class Action in the U.S. changes Nintendo's approach, whilst here the in UK customer's are left high and dry.

    While I'd rather the issue actually have been fixed by now, it sounds like in the US they had to pay for shipping, while over here it should be done via freepost and they only have 1 year warranty while we can take advantage currently of at least 2 years from being in the EU.

    you are covered for 2 years under eu law...till october...

    You aren't really covered for two years in any case. Only for the first six months. After that and for the remaining 18 months it's up to the customer (i.e. you) to prove that the issue existed previously and was not caused by abusing/mishandling the item. Good luck with that.

    If you go through manufacturer instead of seller it will be easier, since other eu countries have by law repair the item for 2 years. They generally don't say no even if you are in UK.

    EU law gets implemented in the UK by acts of parliament, which will still apply after we leave the EU (unless they get repealed, but that won't happen automatically)
