Why can't they all just use the year of release, like they used to? That way we don't have to Google up which one came out when, and what it was called... It's like trying to decipher what flavour a vape liquid is!!

    iPhone OS 2
    iPhone OS 3

    iOS 5
    iOS 6
    iOS 7
    iOS 8
    iOS 9
    iOS 10
    iOS 11
    iOS 12

And the soon to be released...... dun dun dun.......

    iOS 13

Presumably running iOS 12 means my iPhone is 7 years out of date and needs upgrading pronto, then?

pretty sure android has done the same... you would struggle to find the kitkat or whatnot name in the system menus, while the 4.3, 5.1 etc has been fairly easy to understand, minus the 4.x era when they had multiple names for major new releases all under 4.x
