With PCIe 4 coming in to use now and PCIe 6 so close to ratification, surely 5 is dead in the water.
I'd hope so, what is the point fabricating something when the next generation is available (especially when others haven't adopted it in their products yet). Implementations costs alone should mean PCI-E 5.0 is not viable.Quote:

simplification of BOM and manufacture. I'm not sure NVME and EPROM is going to keep up (controllers, maybe in time even RAM caches. Give it a decade... )Quote:
