Re: Humble's monthly subscription to become 3-tier 'Humble Choice'

As someone who has subscribed to Humble Monthly since it started, I was very interested by this announcement when it landed in my email inbox the other day.

While part of the appeal was not knowing what was going to be in the bundle until it unlocked, I am still very happy that loyalty is being rewarded by not only keeping the current price locked in, making it cheaper than the Basic plan that only offers 3 games per month, but also giving the most amount of games of them all at 10, since the Premium plan is the highest otherwise and tops out at 9.

Sure, there will be the marketing aspect in play before the switch goes ahead, but as long as quality games continue to be offered, I'll be happy.

If I wasn't an existing subscriber to Monthly though, I certainly wouldn't be interested in taking up any of the non-Classic plans due to those prices.

Hmm, as an old subscriber who dips in and out this would have the opposite effect if they go ahead and change it. Instead of rushing out to lock in the "old" pricing, I just wouldn't look at it again. This would only make sense if they altered the balance between the titles they curate, for example more major games per bundle than the other way around. Have to say though, some of the indie games have been better than the major titles in terms of game play.

Well, if people are happy then good show to them.
I so rarely buy anything these days, especially from Humble, unless it's on sale...

While I can't say I ever subscribed to the old one, I know one thing I won't be going to now with those sorts of prices.

The old price is what I'd call 'disposable income' or even humble, like the name implies, prices. The new prices are anything but that, especially as there's no guarantee you'll actually get your money's worth.

I do appreciate what they're doing for existing customers though.

Re: Humble's monthly subscription to become 3-tier 'Humble Choice'

This puts me in a difficult position. I've dipped in out of this over the years. I've often only pumped for a subscription should they have something I want as I just can't afford to stay subscribed (Not disposable for me LSG01!). I'm currently subscribed as I wanted Battletech last month but I'm not interested in this months bundle so I was going to cancel/pause. I wonder if the new classic subscription can be paused still? Otherwise I guess I'm losing out on the classic deal...

Re: Humble's monthly subscription to become 3-tier 'Humble Choice'

I'd echo much of the above - good for existing subscribers like me, bad for new ones.

The nice thing about this is that it should hopefully reduced the number of duplicates that I get - I've been really happy with most of the games this year, just a bit of a shame when I buy something then 2 months later it appears in my inbox My friends have a different opinion on that mind....

    I know that feeling.

My most recent case of that is when I bought the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy a few months before it ended up in the bundle. Thankfully I hadn't done the same with the Spyro Trilogy, but that was partly because I hadn't even been aware of it having arrived on PC until then.

Re: Humble's monthly subscription to become 3-tier 'Humble Choice'

This has never interested me as I normally buy the games I like. And looking at the list of games on Humble Monthly in the last few months, any games I'd be interested in playing from them, I already own them. So for me it'l l be a waste of money. Guess if you're just starting PC gaming, it'll be worth it.

I do still like the actual bundles, and tend to spend cash there.

From reading the plan, it looks like if you ever cancel, you'll end up having to pay more to get a similar tier. Good business plan to keep people subscribed perpetually! Not to sound too cynical, but if I remember correctly they were bought out by the same group that own IGN.
