MSI branded Steelseries Siberia V2... mainly because they were free!!
AKG K92s plugged into the motherboard for videos and games, I don't care about surround sound, plus a pair of Shure SRH1540s plugged into my DAC/headphone amp (Audiolab M-DAC) for music.
None ATM use the poor speakers in my screen, i would like a nice gaming headset, but as no one have made a game i would like to play competitive i am in no hurry.
For normal listening to music i still have my old set of Beyerdynamics i have owned since the late 80ties, but they have not been in use since 1990.
Really lately i only listen to music in the car, and that's getting pretty rare too, pretty much only in the summer time i do that, and i am no longer spending small fortunes on ICE for the car.
My current car have a cheap 2DIN head unit and the factory door speakers, no room for the 12" sub i do still have in storage.
Feeling old anyone ? :-),,,, or young for that matter.
AT M40X's. Bloodly love em, 40 quid from cex 2 years ago. Best thing is I can buy another pair from them and return these Broken if they ever do brake after standing upto the british weather (I do clean them)
Several pairs.
Serious musical use = Stax electrostatics.
General use = Sennheiser .... err, forgot the number. 580? 600?
Travelling = Shure earbuds. Again, don't remember model number. Nit cheap, but not silly expensive either. £150-ish IIRC.
Oh, and a very old pair of noise-cancellers for flying. Sennheiser IIRC, but I think a good 20 years old, maybe 25. Could do with replacing these, if I get a round tuit.
I used to do most of my listening on speakers, but with acquisition of little people in my house, I do it less now. Headphones to me are a convenience to others.
My home PC I use Audio-Technica ATH-PDG1 open-backed headset. Whilst it's billed as a gaming headset, it does a fantastic job on music, and the open-backed nature gives a lovely sound and makes them very comfortable to wear.
At work I use my trusty old Sennnheiser HD212Pro closed-backed. A little bass heavy, but still crisp and well defined. The closed-back style is good for a shared office, but does get uncomfortable after a full day.
Then some Sennheiser CX 275s for the rare occasion I'm listening to music on the move.
Sennheiser HD650 at home, Bose QC35 bluetooth noise cancelling on planes - I fly long haul a lot and I wouldn't be without them!
Turtle Beach X12's as i do the majority of my music listening at my PC. They're getting on a bit now but the sound quality is still very good. If im out & about i use some basic Skullcandy earbuds.
Sennheiser HD280 Pro or when on phone the AKG branded buds that come with my S10
Mixture:
Bose QC35 noise cancellers on the train commute.
Bose Soundsport ear buds or Aftershokz Titanium whilst exercising depending if I need to hear ambient noise or if I'm in the gym.
Aftershokz XTrainerz for swimming - by far the best waterproof/swimming headphones I've ever used.
Sennehiser HD 598 closed back for desktop use
KZ ZS10 Pros for mobile
Corsair HS70s for gaming
Thinking of getting the He4xx planar magnetics
Sennheiser HD580 main, plus several pairs of lesser Senns (202), Senn HD238, a couple of sets of comms headsets for my ham radio, plus a few sets of IEMs, including my latest the Senn i800 clones off GearBest for 14 quid which are fantastic
For PC gaming and watching films/TV and listening to music on the PC BeyerDynamic MMX 300, for console games Turtle Beach Stealth 600.
For general listening with the freedom to move around I use my Sony WH-1000XM2 bluetooth phones. For proper listening I use my lovely old Sennheiser HD600's fed via a Schiit Modi3 & Magni3 (also known as a Schiit Stack) which inturn plugs into the USB on my Hackintosh. Its a great combo.
Audio-Technica ATH-AD1000X (Open back)
The Best Headphones i ever had :)for Gaming.
At home I use the old Labtech 2.1 speakers I've had plugged into my PC for close to 20 years.
On the go I've got a pair of wired earbuds. I think they're Philips. I got them for about £25 three or four years ago.
I'm using Urbanears' Plattan ADV headphones (bt with wired port also) and Sumpan earbuds (wired), both of which I got as gifts. Not the best fidelity, but the previous model earbuds lasted a couple years being crunched in my pockets every day, and my sister's taken advantage of the warranty on headphones a couple times now. It's a reliable and very cheap (if you wait for the email sales on the headphones, anyway) brand for us.
Asus ROG Delta RGB for the PC, and getting either a pair of Beats Solo Pro or Powerbeats Pro to replace the airpods (gen1) I use with the iPhone
When the Bose QC25s I used in the office & while travelling lost a driver, I replaced them with Anker's Soundcore Life Q20 for 20% of the Bose's price.
Old school Creative Aurvana Live! now via SXFI Amp.
Need to replace the earpads as they are flaking, might be cheaper just to get the re-released version?
Astro A50. Wireless is a must.
none, they make my ears go red and sweaty, then they feel funny for a while. but that could be because the only pair I have had in use on computer where some cheap no-name brand from the poundshop or B&M.
got an un-opened pair of buds from old Samsung e2121b phone, back in 2011, they'll be an upgrade in quality if I was bothered.
dads got some Stax electrostatics from the 70's upstairs in his loft-hovel-'stuff' room.
Sony MDR XB920s, mainly because of how incredibly sturdy and durable they are. They're on their 4th year already running perfectly fine! Not even the earpads leather came off.
At the PC I use Mk1 Cooler Master Sirus 5.1, great sound but quite heavy due to 5 speakers on each side, but my ears don't sweat in them because of the cloth covering.
Out and about I have MK1 Sony WH-1000X.
Sennheiser PXC 550
Logitech G430 is my current daily driver at home. They're pretty decent. And the G HUB software started to support it shortly after I bought it. Which was a positive.
I also have a Corsair Vengeance H2100 Wireless 7.1 Headset... but stopped using it because it was too heavy and i started to get neck pains! Also the plastic of the headband cracked soon after I got it . I had to RMA the first one because the receiver was faulty; but never bothered to get the second one RMA'd (Scan's process is too long-winded), so the bad fitting is probably why the neck pain started. So although this pair had/has good sound, I could not use anymore. The main reason I got a wireless headset for my PC was because I tend to get the wires caught. I've destroyed countless earphone cables by snagging them on something and pulling them, so either one or both sides will stop working... the most annoying were the one where the signal cuts in and out! This is another reason that when I buy portable earphones, I never bothered with something too expensive.
At work I use a Sennheiser CX 3.00 ... when I want to focus and cut out the background chatter as it's an open plan office!
None. I cannot stand having my senses cut off from the world around me, to the extent that I'd rather turn subtitles on while watching TV/movies or gaming (I don't listen to music but occasionally use it as background noise,) and switch off the speakers than use any kind of headphones. Noise cancellers in particular give me the shivers.
For similar reasons my entire exposure to VR was about 20 seconds long. AR overlays are fine but full on VR and no vision? Forget it.
Creative Aurvana Live v1's when listening on my PC, and Xiaomi Mi Hybrid Pro HD 2's when on the go (which replaced my recently sadly departed trusty old Xiaomi Piston v2's)
Bose QC25
HyperX cloud on xbox
Brainwavez thingy earplugs - they're actually seriously good, but 3.5mm jack so not used much
Currently i've stolen the airpods i got for my mothers iphone (contract freebie) that have been sitting in a cupboard for a year, they are much more comfortable than the wireless things i bought a while back but i'm too ashamed to wear them in public in case people think i use an iphone.
Pair of wired Bowers & Wilkins P7's for PC and music, and a pair of Bowers & Wilkins Px's for when I need no wires.
Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 600 Ohm, fed via a desktop M-DAC (not the plus nor the new one that's in the works). I tend to prefer the surround seperation of speakers and the airyness of not having to wear anything, headphones just get used outside hours. It's much cheaper to get decent Hi-Fi on a pair of good headphones, what I appreciate about the DT990s is that they have sparkle and can provide a little of what my speakers just don't quite seem to do during the daylight hours. They are excellent headphones.
I also have Soundmagic HP151s which I bought as a dally into closed back headphones. They are excellent but the bass level can be a little heavy sometimes and I just end up using the Beyer's more. They both probably have their place.
For mobile, I use a Cambridge Audio DACMAGIC V2 externally (finally decent microSD to microSD cable is available for this in the UK, it's directional apparently?!) with KZ ZS6 and silver wire. The wire tends to get snagged and the headphones themselves take a little time to adjust in the ears but they are excellent and most all of the time make up for their foibles by providing clear, great sound on the move.
One of these days I'm going to start wearing full size cans outside. Until that time I'm doing well :)
(I have a HyperX Cloud headset still sitting in its box waiting for me to try some VoIP again one day, with the headset mic).
I have another pair of KZ ZS headphones I'm maybe going to shift on, need to use them a lot more to make a decision, they are physically larger IEMs than the ZS6 so they just don't get pocket time. If you get the ZS6 please don't pay £50+ for them, I think my pair was =~ £18.
Main headphones at home: Audio Technica M40X
Outdoor/office: Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC / KZ AS10 with bluetooth adapter
Gym: KZ ZS5 with bluetooth adapter (waiting for the MPOW S11 to drop on the mail to replace them)
Future purchases: thinking about getting the Beyerdynamic DT 880 for home use and Bose Quietconfort 35 for the office (to be able to replace the logitech headset that i have to use when bluetooth is not available) soon.
Also in a bit of pickle on how to mix my audio sources (PC, PS4, Switch), looking at the Soundblastes X7 but still undecided and searching for a solution.
Sennheiser GSP370 Wireless. 100 hour battery life and cracking sound quality.
My trusty old Sennheiser PC 360's.
Right now a pair of 1990s Sony MDR-W07 headphones similar to these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-Walkma...-/233056475634
Annoyingly the grey housing around the speakers has just started to split. I do hate it when good things fall apart.
Logitech G533 (Gaming Headset with Wireless DTS 7.1 Surround Sound).
I bought them last year to replace my previous wired headset (Plantronics GameCom 780 with 7.1 Surround Sound) after they accidentally broke by falling onto a hard surface (it had previously fell numerous times, but onto a softer surface).
As I stick to headphones/headsets rather than speakers, not replacing them wasn't an option. I've been happy with them and can get plenty of time out of them before needing to recharge. I've been very happy with the sound quality and range, as well as comfort with the fit.
My upcoming switch to Linux may affect the surround sound aspect, but hopefully there'll be a way to effectively recreate that.
Sennheiser HD 558. Might not go with the same company. I do like this 558. Sennheiser is rather expensive though. I usually get cheap headphones for $20-30. The night and day difference when I got the 558 was an eye opener. The biggest issue I've had with these headphones is that the ear pads don't last long at all. In the first year the ear pads were already breaking down. I have already replaced the ear pads twice. The 558's sound really good. The ear pads were not made to last though.
Not an important item to me and only use to watch films , videos and football on my tv / monitor so as not to disturb others in the household. Other use is to plug into my guitar practise amp to cover my bad playing. lol. I have a cheap pair of Sony ones and recently bought a pair of cheap Goodmans Bluetooth enabled ones from B&M's ( £20 ) but can't seem to get them to connect with
the dongle , maybe will just use them wired.
I mostly use my B&W PX
For gaming - Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless (lossless/lag free wireless)..amazing headphones for gaming with, and i really like the fact I can have my PC output over teh wireless but also be connected to my phone over bluetooth at the same time - great when a call comes in or if you want to put on a podcast whilst playing a 4X game or something.
For work - Microsoft Surface Headphones - great sound quality, infinitely more comfortable to me than the bose QC35iis (plus better ANC than the bose), but not quite as good ANC as the sony's..but again that comfort factor really wins it for me. Plus they work really nicely with teams :)
For out and about music - Sony XBAII IEMs with comply tips. Best sound quality of all the above, but then I really love the sound from a good set of IEMs moreso than cans, so I am slightly biased :)
Pc, sennheiser 579 for easy listening and gaming, AT's M50x for when I wish to play loud. powered with asus essence stx ii.
Movies via TV, sennheiser 558 and a topping nx2 dac
Serious listening:Focal Clear
On the move : Sony WH 1000xm3
From PC: Aidio Technica MDR7
I'd have to dig them out to check the model numbers, but I've got two pairs of sennys, a set of foldable over-ear for travelling, and a set of proper cans for audio work. I'll be gutted as/when either pair dies on me - then I'll buy some more sennys. Not that I'm a fanboy or anything ;)
Hdj-1000
Massdrop Sennheiser HD 6XX with Sound BlasterX G6 DAC/AMP
No more "gaming" headsets for me, Had Logitech G930, G35, G933.
Absolute garbage with wireless connection issues on the expensive RGB one.
Had the 6XX for a few years now and it's amazing, If I were to buy a new set in future I would wait until they made a Drop version of Sennheiser HD 800 HD 8XX?
AT M40X's had them for probably 5 years now and they are the best thing ever.
Plantronics RIG 400e, 2 pairs as they are so comfortable... closed and open back
Sennheiser HD650 is my go to for home. Comfortable, detailed easy listening but still engaging sound. Lacks wow factor but that is what keeps everything so balanced.
Also have:
HD58x - little bit less power hungry so good it i want to use a little bluetooth amp instead of full JDS Atom. Not as warm as the 650, bass goes a bit lower.
Shure SRH1540 - not sure why I bought these as they are rather pricey, very detailed but not so fun and sometimes tricky to get a good seal. Nice for checking out high quality recordings, though.
Hifiman/Massdrop HE4XX: Picked up on sale the other week, quite a different sound and more open and energetic than the others, good for metal/guitars. Not the most comfortable so wouldn't use for long listening.
Sennheiser HD598: First serious headphone and I still like using them for watching films/video as they are very light and comfortable whilst producing a good spacial sensation.
Have Tin T2 and Shure SE215 earbuds, the latter doesn't get so much use cos they aren't the most comfortable but both sound good.
Sennheiser HD598 SE for gaming and any sit down listening (which is rare these days) and just the apple earbuds for listening on the move which sound OK but are slightly uncomfortable to wear for long periods.
Most of my listening is in the car these days.
Just changed from a set of AKG K240DF to Beyerdynamic DT880. Sad to let the AKGs go but they were getting pretty ratty.
AirPods - the gym and general lounging around / holiday
Goldring NS1000 - noise cancelling for on the plane etc
HyperX Cloud Stinger - gaming if i don't use the 2.1 speakers
Sennheiser HD660s, SMSL SU8 V2 DAC, SMSL SP200 THX headphone amp, AKG551, Bose QC20i (travel only), Moondrop Kanas Pro (for summer use)....soon Audeze LCD 1 will join the collection.
Audeze Mobius.
The difference between these and the Astro I also have is unreal. The Mobius is much better at 7.1 surround, clarity, volume and the 3D positional system thats built in is an absolute Gem for things like watching netflix or hearing footsteps coming whilst playing FPS shooters or stuff like DayZ.
I'm really suprised that Hexus have not done a review of these headphones.
Sennheiser HD598 SE, had them a while, but still going strong.
