    Is that it ?
That is not impressing i have to say. put a damper on my want for a 5G phone, but that's mostly due to me just having been forced to get a phone NOW and so its just 4G.

So, in general, about what you can expect from 4G+ speeds in countries with fast mobile internet (sweden/finland/eastern europe)

I'd settle for having decent 4G service round here!
    Live long and prosper.

Re: 5G mobile networks provide 4.5X speed boosts to UK users

I seem to recall being told that on 5G you could DL a blue ray movie in a blink of the eye ASO, but 170 mbit don't seem like much compared to promises like that.

For real world use 170 mbit will probably be just fine.

The main provider here ( TDC ) have demonstrated close to 2 gbit, but that's just 1 device on a mast i assume, real world will probably be something else.
And even much faster in the LAB.

EDIT: i should probably say that Huawei are out now.

Re: 5G mobile networks provide 4.5X speed boosts to UK users

I would say the core data to the 4G transmitters performing below average is a network bottleneck not representation of 4G when 4G can see speeds of 90Mbps given a 5G transmitter could still be deployed and sitting on a poor speed datalink or user saturated. perfect scenarios max figure but i highly suspect there will not be perfect scenarios everywhere esp rurel area where you could still have 5G transmitter on a slow link.

Re: 5G mobile networks provide 4.5X speed boosts to UK users

A lot of it comes down to bandwidth. 4G and 5G aren't fixed speed standards, and both depend heavily on how much bandwidth is assigned to a given deployment, along with other things of course.

That example of 70Gbps looks to be using 2GHz of bandwidth, i.e. more than every mobile operator's spectrum across 2G/3G/4G/5G combined. mmWave offers substantially more bandwidth than the currently deployed frequencies but has the limitation of poor coverage due to the much higher frequencies used.

Given deployed bandwidth for 5G is currently way less than 4G, 4x speedup is significant, but lack of congestion helps there too.

Well TDC is the monopoly here, okay there are others, but when they move you better get your ass out of the way of this privatized behemoth.
I think they should die,,,,, yes i know not nice to say about someone / thing, but really they should.

As a monopoly or near-monopoly, do they not have the regulators breathing down their neck? That tends to be the case in the UK at least.

No the regulators are in on the deal, same go for the money laundering banks.
Latest news are the US people that stole billions from us, well they don't have to pay all of it back, they will even get a tax refund on the money they put up front to steal from Denmark.

IMO heads need to roll, in a manner that will make the Stockholm bloodbath seem like a picnic.
