Re: Microsoft reveals the Xbox Series X at The Game Awards
They say it is quieter than Xbox One X which is really nice, given how noisy the PS4 series were I hope Sony come up with something as quiet with the PS5.
Obviously given the name there is going to be a lower cost Xbox Series S as well.

Jesus christ, that thing is chonky!
Re: Microsoft reveals the Xbox Series X at The Game Awards
It's looking like there'll be little to separate the specs of the next-gen top-tier Xbox and PlayStation, so the value added stuff (second-screen streaming, game subscription services, backwards compatibility, first-party game library, etc) is likely to be the real battleground this time next year.

I agree, and would add to that cross platform play - Microsoft have a huge advantage in their open nature of allowing cross platform stuff and have been doing so for a while, whilst Sony are only just starting to slowly take down the barriers in a very small number of games. The fact I can play most "Xbox exclusive" games on either my PC or Xbox is a massive advantage to me, along with cross platform multiplayer...right now I am not even considering picking up a PS5.

Xbox Series X will be able to handle 4K visuals at 60 frames per second with settings set to low.

See the cross platform bit I don't get in that case. If you have a gaming PC, and you can access Xbox games through that then why buy an Xbox? Surely it'd make more sense to play Xbox games on the PC and buy a PlayStation or Switch to play the games MS don't have?

Ahh, didn't get that from his post at all, at least PC-LAD was on point with the humour...

With Game Pass Ultimate, for me, it's a direct slugfest next year between this and building a new itx system. I need a transportable gaming machine and right now I'm leaning towards the itx PC but cost will help decide next year...

I use my Xbox for couch gaming and also for anything that I think really benefits from 4k atm since I don't have and do t intend to buy a 4k monitor until the new display port standard and appropriate g sync is out and affordable, which I think it's 3 years away at least. 60hz is not appropriate for any kind of competitive game really.
It's also much easier for local multiplayer :)
My pc is used more for games like pubg and RTS games, which are just awful on a console

It is picking between something you can modify and something that is shut down... find your needs out from that if just need video games only, then xbox... if want to be able to update your system now and then go for the mini ITX build with no restrictions in comparison.
Re: Microsoft reveals the Xbox Series X at The Game Awards
They are getting bigger and bigger every gen, it's best if Microsoft could just give us a paid emulator that can run on a PC, I mean come on, I've seen some PC cases that are so identical to that.
Re: Microsoft reveals the Xbox Series X at The Game Awards
With that form factor, using a zen2 CPU and AMD GPU it's the closest thing to being a PC I've seen.
