Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite and Note10 Lite launched

But we don't know if the 'Lite' aspect makes them good value as Samsung hasn't released pricing.

I'm rather interested, I just don't like that they haven't even given an estimated price or a price bracket. This isn't a flagship which is supposed to just be the best, it's a notch down and so the value proposition is essential.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite and Note10 Lite launched

I could understand a cheaper Note, but the S10 Lite seems like a really strange move given that the S11 announcement is just weeks away. Especially considering the kind of pricing and promotions we're seeing on the regular ol' S10 at this stage in its product cycle. If this had happened 6 months ago I'd have assumed they were just testing the waters with new screens and other parts in anticipation of the S11 launch (just like when they randomly released the Galaxy Alpha to test the new Exynos chips and metal frame prior to launching the S6).

Price first, specs after - price immediately determines whether I should bother reading further.

Yeh, unless you're releasing a flagship where it's all about the best you can do, the price is the starting point. It's nothing without that context.

As for the release date, this makes perfect sense. The newer devices will almost certainly be 5G capable. This gives them a chance to get people who were waiting for 5G devices (and so are clinging on to their previous device) to upgrade. 5G is being slow to roll out and people might well go "well, 5G is going to take a while, I might as well buy a replacement now which is cheaper as a stop-gap upgrade". It tempts those waiting for the "next big thing" by giving them a meaningful upgrade at a lower price.

I'm just got a bag of parts to get someone who isn't me to put into it. That'll do for a bit.
