Not a fan of thumbsticks or Corsair with it's stupid sniper button. Anything that interferes with the thumb position is not good in my opinion. I'm also not into wireless either. The battery life is usually a giant lie.

I've still got my G700, no idea how old it is now but there are too many buttons and I've never configured them all, so while I would probably use a thumbstick if I had one on the mouse, I'll pass until this one dies..

I appreciate the logo idea, but thumbsticks on a mouse just don't work in my opinion.
As I own a Belkin N52TE I just think a thumbstick would be difficult to control without moving the mouse.
That's why they work on controllers, and keypads as their movement if there any from pushing on the stick has no effect.

i have a corsair m65 mouse which has a sniper button. in the five years i have owned the mouse i have used that button precisely once. it`s a good idea on paper.
this mouse here, on the other hand, isn`t even a good idea if you do write it down..

    Really?
I have the same and actually would want more buttons - Could do with a second strip down the right side!

Re: Asus ROG Chakram gaming mouse includes a thumbstick

I have a Logitech Revolution (the first model) and that's wireless. The range is terrible (I have the dongle right next to the mouse pad) but that's because it's an old model and not even Bluetooth.

Battery life after 10 years+ is still weeks of regular use and it takes about an hour to fully charge as well as about 5 minutes to get from flat to a usable amount. Also, when it goes "critical", you're warned with a big on screen message and it flashes red. You've still got a good few hours of use and you can almost always find the time to charge it for 5-10 minutes. Maybe cheaper ones the battery life isn't so good but this one is perfectly usable for me.

There are loads of disadvantages to wireless mice but for me on a decent model, battery isn't one.

Re: Asus ROG Chakram gaming mouse includes a thumbstick

I like thumb buttons, although I use them less these days. I use them for quick binds in shooters. A joystick is an interesting addition, might be useful in space games, but otherwise not so sure.

I've been meaning to glue the top of a mouse to a joystick base some time to have a self-righting mouse, which could probably be quite good for space games too - or even just movement in most games.

Re: Asus ROG Chakram gaming mouse includes a thumbstick

Well, this just seem pointless and overly expensive for what it offers!

I've had a Corsair M90 for years, but it just stopped working, had a problem with it scrolling the page for no reason. That had I think nine buttons on the thumb grip. The best I managed to use was the three at the back and a couple at the middle for gaming. The others were pretty much useless. So when it came to replacing this, I had a look at some options, the Razer Naga Trinity was an option I was considering... but was a bit too much for what I needed in terms of price. So ended up getting a Logitech G502. I gotta say, I was thoroughly impressed. I wasn't expecting much for the price I paid, but it exceeded my expectations. I particularly like the scroll wheel lock, makes browsing emails a breeze (handy for working from home days).

Back to this mouse, all it has is the same amount of buttons as a 502, with the third button replaced by a thumb stick. Just feeling around with my mouse, I personally don't think this is a practical thing to have on a mouse. As the way I see using it is now to have 3 fingers on my right hand operating independently of each other. Plus if your thumb is resting on the joystick, you need to move it to use the other two buttons. It's such an unnatural position to have a thumstick. And I agree with tomcoleman above, RSI is a distinct possibility. I already have a self-diagnosed RSI on my left hand, was painful as heck when it first happened (on both hands for a while, now it seems to be only the left). Plus $150 for just this as the addition? Yikes, that's asking a lot. As the rest of the features are the same as any other gaming mouse! Seems like an extremely niche product to me.

Re: Asus ROG Chakram gaming mouse includes a thumbstick

I loved the thumbstick on my 'Mad Catz MMO7', sadly that died and they are now as rare as rocking horse doo doo. I'd consider this mouse IF it had more buttons, but it doesn't , so I won't
I'll just stick to my 23 button function 'Roccat Kone Aimo' until something better for me comes along.
