Quite a good chip for some mid level gaming in silence. Nice card potential.
I suppose it's one way to get rid of old stock.
Why not make the card full length for better cooling?
I don't get this cards function at all, it's slower than an old gtx970.
Why would anyone buy a gtx1650 ?

A good PSU wouldn't make a sound, a good heatsink on the CPU would be silent barely ticking over and it's only ever the graphics card that makes a noise on most systems, now that we have SSD's
I think the biggrest issue in 2020 is that most PC cases now have the PSU at the bottom, and that doesn't help the heat getting out of the top of the case.
With a case with quality PSU at the top, and good clear unrestricted airflow at the bottom of the front, (no fan needed) I think I could make a silent PC with this card and it would be quite acceptable for most tasks and games. with the CPU heatsink fitted in the same direction of cooling vains to the GPU, air would rise from both.
I think this brings an even more pressing thing to light, hiding the 5.25 drive bays. I miss being able to have a full tower with a drive, I just dont want ugly anymore. If the psu was at the top so could the shroud and a disk drive, How hasn't that been a thing yet (small market ik -_-).Quote:

SSD Hard drives don't get super warm to be fair, so having them in a place I can get too is all I care about.
I wonder if the direction of the heatsink fins is the right choice for this card; it seems to me it would make more sense to have them running the length of the card (front to back), so that if the card is in a case with one or more front-fans then air can still flow across it and out the grille on the back.
With the blades running across the width of the card as they are there seems no point to having a grill on the back at all, as heat isn't going to escape very easily from that end. The side-to-side arrangement would only make sense if this card is going to go in a case that mounts the motherboard horizontally, and there aren't loads of those. Otherwise the only place this card will make sense is mounted at the top of a case with a top vent, but front-to-back fins would work just as well in such an arrangement.
So yeah, feels to me like front-to-back would be a lot more versatile, seems to me like they've limited the utility of an already pretty niche product to me.
In my own case I have a compact system with a passively cooled PSU, passive CPU heatsink and relying on a pair of big, quiet fans to cool everything, a passive graphics card could have been a sweet addition but my case has no top vent, and with that fin arrangement there's no way I could get any air across this card.
I thought that to start with and then I realised that lots of SFF cases will hold the fins vertically perfectly well.Quote:
