Sorry I meant to say UK has Exynos.. most other countries have others. Granted that we are in the minority.
Ttaskmaster - wasn't having a dig or anything, but the S10 isn't the latest or greatest by any stretch of the imagination. We in the UK only see a small amount of phones, especially from Samsung and we don't even get the best specs as pointed out in this thread
Re: Samsung launches the Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra
I know of loads who buy flagship phones. usually from the fruity side of the argument though
I also know that the majority of people I know have a flagship phone when the newest is out, so for example 3 of my mates are due an upgrade this year and they will go for S10's as the S20 is out

Still not heard of any of teh others, so they can't be that good...
Heck, I'm still using an S5, so it makes no bones to me. Just more incrementally fancy tech that I cannot afford and probably don't need.

S5 is well old and performance is nowhere near that of the newer phones. But each to their own

Actually Samsung use Exynos in the majority of countries, while One plus use Snapdragon.
Re: Samsung launches the Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra
Which is what I said in a round about way.... lol I'm tired ;)

It runs every app I've tried on it, and you'd need a newer phone next to it and/or some benchmarking software, before you could actually see that much of a difference. It's not even as much of an apparent difference as 1080 vs 1440... I know, because the aforementioned geeks have tried to sell me on the idea of dropping almost a grand on a phone like theirs... which is 2080 Super levels of money, so way OTT for a phone!

Camera is way way worse... but if it's not your bag it's not your bag
Re: Samsung launches the Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra
Samsung are developing under the screen cameras, so I am sure the hole will go eventually

Meh. I've taken pictures with an S10... they come out just as blurry as on my S5.
My bag (5.11 Moab-10 Tactical Slingbag, by the way ;) ) doesn't even get a say in the matter, though - It's all down to my wallet.
Re: Samsung launches the Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra
How about pixel sized cameras, that way you just have that 2 dead pixel. :-)
I am not buying this phone, nor any other phone for at least 3 years, otherwise i have paid far too much for the one i have, and it is far from the price range of high end Samsung phones.
And i sincerely hope this phone i have will be my last one.
Re: Samsung launches the Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra
I'm a nerd. I am a nerd with a decent amount of money laying around and a decent job. I'm a nerd who has always bought flagship phones like the nerd that I am. I have a garage with a box full of old phones. I have always upgraded practically as soon as my contract is over. I bought a P990i when I was working in an off licence and it cost a relative fortune compared to my pay.
That even I am completely and utterly put off paying a grand for the base model of these is a big problem for them. I have an S8 and the battery is just getting replaced. I've spent the money on a decent contract to allow me to watch pr0..... entertainment on the bus in full HD (I'm lying.... I never use the bus). I use my phone for practically everything and I'd love the better camera with telephoto and wide angle.
BUT.... the cost is such that, even as a long advocate of flagship phones which pack lots of different devices into one do-it-all-and-do-it-well system, even I would have to say "nearly £1500?!? I'll buy a two year old flagship for £400-500 and an extra-ordinarily decent compact camera". I think what puts me off is there's ALWAYS a compromise and it's usually artificial. When smartphones were getting new and interesting features all the time and it was a race to see who could advance the furthest, it was interesting. Even though the devices were fundamentally flawed in many ways, you could see they were trying to push the technological envelope or do something different.
Now, they're all trying for the same formula, each with different limitations. Which is fine, except for when the limitations are artificial to create a product stack. The Note was supposed to be the do-it-all for nerds but that's now basically an S10+ with a pen and a large price tag, rather than being the nerd version of a normie device with extra features.
I think marketing has taken over the impetus and really the only people I see trying to be slightly different are Oneplus.
Re: Samsung launches the Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra
I've got a 1+ 7 Pro as a personal phone and an S9 as a work phone. I much prefer the OP. I'm not particularly keen on Samsung's skin, although it is more minimal than it was, I just prefer the layout of the OP.
So the Samsungs have never really been a consideration for me, even before they came with 'how flippin much?' price tags.
I don't see anything in the S20 dog's nadger edition that makes it worth £800 more than my OP.

What I like about the Oneplus phones is they are reducing the animations which are designed to make the things addictive (you noticed the pull down to refresh thing acts like a slot machine lever? No accident) and also rewarding you for taking time out from your phone as well, rather than rewarding you for interacting. I love the idea of something that silences all the social media and other stuff whilst still allowing through important stuff but that encourages and rewards people for it.
I think Samsung are trying to get involved in every part of a customer's life and be all shiny shiny beep boop, whereas Oneplus's approach is to make a utilitarian tool that just works.

I'd rather attach defib pads to my gentlemen's vegetables and shout "CLEAR".
