Good to know what's coming up. I had my eye on a new PC with Ryzen 3600 and 5700 XT but it sounds like the 5700 XT is due for replacement around the end of the year and the upgrade is worth waiting for (I have an rx480 so not struggling yet anyway). It doesn't sound like the Ryzen 4600 is due soon however so a 3600 still sounds like a good upgrade for this year (And my 3570k is getting harder to live with).

Thats because business and consumers are confident that AMD will deliver first class products as they have proved in the past few years and gained everyone's trust back, and im one of those who switched to Ryzen 3700x from intel.

No the 5700 XT i don't think are due for replacement, but maybe a upgrade maybe stuff like ray tracing slapped onto it.
But if you are going to play on 1440p or smaller it make no sense to upgrade at least not to the new high end cards.
But of course if you plan to get a 4K screen too, then you also need big navi to power it if you want to stick with a all AMD build.

I am on 5700 XT and 1080p screen myself, and granted the new products will probably make me want them too, but thankfully my hardware will make sure i don't have to give in to those urges.
CUZ a 5700 XT with RT slapped on, and maybe a few more FPS, well that's nice but not something i am going to spend money on, not even if i was still a hardcore gamer.

And i do hope the new stuff will be a severe kick in the groin of Nvidia.

Jumped to a 2600 and was so impressed it's now a 2700. 2700 was on offer a while back at £125 and it's pretty awesome! I've just ran a Cinebench Release 20 test and this pc has been on since 8am no restarts and it scored 3374 with 16-gig of 3000 mhz ram

I am ready to press the buy button on an AMD mobo and cpu to replace my 7600k, which is running admirably at 5ghz 1.35v (AVX offset -2), gaming it's good, well, it's fast does enough.

However, even now at that clock speed against R3700X it's equalled/bested in DX11 and totally obliterated in multicore-able games. So although I get more than playable FPS in every title I play, over the past 2-3 months I've been more into encoding than gaming.

In Handbrake, even using NVENC on my 2070S, most likely due to the level of filtering required to produce the end product quality I need, each encode takes at least as long as the media running time - When I compare the gains I'd get with Ryzen3, it's almost a no brainer.

Arctic are sending me an AM4 mount kit for my arctic freezer 360, when that lands, the urge to swap out will be even greater.

I am wondering how long we have to wait to for Ryzen 3+ (4th iteration Ryzen), the 3700X is well priced right now and the ROG X570 Hero VIII board is my weapon of choice, I've already got the 3600Mhz RAM and GPU - It's taken me a while to save up, I doubt I'd be disappointed with an 3700X (as good or better in games depending on age, ludicrously faster in MP4 encoding) - it would take me a good few months to save for a 4th iteration Ryzen if I invested now but if the gains are as good as they read in the 'gossip' columns of the interweb, I think i'd be kicking myself more than just a bit for splashing my hard earned savings too soon.

Another option would be to get a 7700K which would be a boost to my encoding at least? But looking online, the pricing of those is unbelievably high.

I think August is being touted as the launch for 3rd iteration Ryzen release, anybody feel that's a likely launch date? What would you guys do?

I'm already gaming at QHD... I saw a great deal on an AOC 32" QHD monitor for £170 over a year ago. The 480 does better than the benchmarks would imply but its definitely struggling at QHD medium settings in some titles now. I just figure its less desperate to upgrade than the CPU so I might as well hold off for now. 50% more efficient is worth the wait.

Yeah. My work machine went to a 8000 series i5 (from a 6000 series i7) and I noticed the difference due to the extra 2 cores so figure I'll notice the difference here. Was tempted with the 2700/2700x but several people have suggested the 3600 is better for games and the same price currently. Just got to wait a month or two for my bonus to come through!

I got a 2700 for £125 as said above. Lower clocks but more cores/threads. I guess for you a 3600 would be better. This pc gets used for all sorts but not games

Nvidia will like announce their high bandwidth fabric equivalent soon now.

It really does seem impossible what AMD have achieved, but it's happened. Absolutely remarkable.

The best thing of all is the company is so very lean, anaemic almost.

So they will only go from strength to strength and have very, very large scope to grow and improve further still.

You could see years back that certain companies were controlling the markets (not just pc and server as everything nowadays depends on technology somewhere in the flow of things) contributing largely to market stagnation.

AMD are a breath of fresh air.

I don't consider myself a fanboy of any company, but if I were, AMD are way out kn front.

Most don't get it... and worst of all the competitors don't either, they keep good pricing and a steady leap in performance all the time... at some time.. they match their competetor and keep going same pace... competitor gets behind because they do not have the same flow in development and can only make big leaps now and then... that is how I see AMD as, a steady flow of increasing performance tactic.. and it works... they are taking shares in the CPU market alot also on server and super computers now... and so is their GPU's... let alone that AMD power both the new consoles coming out.... + having great products... it would let people develop more to the AMD side as well first for gaming for an instance.... I foresee a dark future for Intel and NVIDIA... not that am a fanboy... but who ever can grant the best of the best get my next 5 to 10 grand... next time I build a system... currently my eye is AMD + NVIDIA.... but in a years time that could change to full red team? who knows.

Aw i was hoping for some more spoilers on ryzen 4. Good to see they're on track though. Anyone know if we're expecting a new socket too?
