Re: AMD and Nvidia get ready for DirectX 12 Ultimate
It may have been the first to do Ray Tracing but it was extremely underwhelming and felt like a bolt on initially. It took at least a year before we saw anything decent with it on and even then the number of titles leveraging full ray tracing rather than just a few shadows/light sources doesn't really make me feel like it was "pioneering".

Exactly.
Their statement should read:
"Nvidia would just like to remind users that we were the first company to cash in, with an incomplete and underwhelming gimmick (in it's current form).

DX12 Ultimate sounds lame. How about DX12RT?
Re: AMD and Nvidia get ready for DirectX 12 Ultimate
Have to say, that's a pretty dull (yet shiny) demo from AMD ;-)

Did anybody else find they couldn't stop staring at Julian's ears?

But it's always going to be that way when pushing new features (although RT isn't exactly new). It would be risky for developers to go balls deep on features supported by a few cards which only a small percentage of the public have.

AMD breakdowns its demo - DXR1.1 can do raytracing operations in one pass that DXR1.0 needs 5 passes to do the same in.

As always. Nvidia drivers are the first and the best)
