Re: Microsoft Edge to get vertical tabs, password monitor and more

Vertical tabs is an interesting new browser tab management tool. Microsoft claims that Edge is the only browser "that allows you to manage your tabs on the side with a single click".
Opera used to do it before they switched over, Vivaldi currently does do it. Though they both display the tabs all the time AFAIK.

"by infusing new AI, rich content and templates and cloud-powered experiences to empower better writing, presenting, designing and more," explains Microsoft.
I can hear the heavy breathing in the background of the forum...

That sounds suspiciously like someone is afflicted with CoViD-19...

Can't live without vertical tabs since forever on Firefox. Coupled with tab changes using mouse wheel, it's amazing (Tree Style Tab + TST Mouse Wheel and Double Click add-ons on Firefox).

What's so special about having tabs vertical up the side of the screen? Doesn't it take up more room unless you already have an Ultrawide?

Vivaldi can display the tabs top, bottom or either side.

Most pages leave quite a bit of white space on the sides, like the Hexus site you're on right now. My standard 2560x1440 monitor only has content taking up about half the actual screen with the outer 1/4 sections being blank. Some people would prefer having the extra vertical space instead.

Yep it can. Currently got them on the right side with the address bar at the bottom for a change!

Yep, it's the reason I like verticle tabs. My only issue with it - at least in Vivaldi - is that it shifts the page over so it's less central.

Mine has 14mm on the left and 17.5mm on the right. The latter does include a scroll bar, admitedly, but it still doesn't seem like much to me.... That's a 27" monitor with the same 1440p res as you.

Firefox has a vertical bookmark bar, it's the main reason I use it.

Great, so the paper clip has gained sentience. Again. Last time it did this it took over Alexa and kept turning my lights on and off for giggles. Oh, and then it took hints from Tay and started playing Hitler's Nuremberg speech on repeat.

Frankly, it's mischievous and can't be trusted with intelligence.
