AMD, Apple, and Nvidia lap up TSMC capacity vacated by Huawei

Huawei cut orders due to lower smartphone shipments but TSMC was unfazed.

Interesting claim about the N5 process being developed with/for AMD - I guess it would be a case of tuning it for higher clock speeds vs some of the more mobile-oriented processes TSMC offer?

Interesting about N5 enhanced... I'd like to hope that seeing as it was specifically develloped for AMD, likely with their investment etc, that AMD gets preferential treatment over Apple and their huge stockpile of cash.

From what I remember reading, TSMC have played quite fair historically, refusing to allow large companies like Apple to bully others out of production capacity. It makes a lot of sense though, you only have to look as far as ImgTec to see what can happen if you have nearly all your eggs in one apple basket...

I assume you mean march? And what do you consider soon? Taiwan has been split from China since 1949 and yet they still have not invaded. Also Taiwan is protected by the US, it is legally obligated to defend it. It is also no slouch in terms of military equipment and forces. So no it won't be soon, if ever.

Taiwan does not have the qualitative advantage it used to have over China though, and there is only 80~140 mile of sea separating the two countries. Economic and political concerns are probably the bigger thing which will temper any aggression from China.

I was just kidding, and screwing up my spelling.
And i do hope the US stand by their promises though you some times doubt it at the moment.
CUZ we Danes have our own little thing the US also promises to stand by us with, that little thing being Greenland, a part of the world more contended ATM than Taiwan is.
And a place the Chinese also have their eyes on, probably more than Taiwan, though unlike the American president they have not assumed we would sell it for a chest of plastic beads and something that is shiny.

I'm not sure they'd offer anything for land they see as theirs to start with other than an offer that can't be refused.

We cant sell the place, cuz when the ice up there have melted and the place start to live up to its name, very little of current Denmark will be above the water, so we have to go somewhere.
If the Dutch are nice we will invite them to join us, as they have bailed us out once, and we are such nice people.

Sarcasm isn't always obvious in text, especially on forums where you may not know who is behind the post. The /s tag comes in handy at times.

Problem is China has access to the same types of weapons too - official numbers are "only" 300,but its most likely an under-representation,as is the true number of strategic launch platforms they possess, and it is still sufficient enough to be a problem.

What is much more worrying is that Russian and China are now strategic and economic allies:
    https://thediplomat.com/2017/06/chin...ation-roadmap/
    https://www.brookings.edu/blog/order...ol-with-china/
    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/...112625898.html

The issue with our current situation with Russia is that it has made them pivot towards China. One of the biggest victories of the Cold War was driving a wedge between both countries.

I still think the economic and political ramifications would be the biggest counter to China trying to do anything IMHO.

I can see AMD becoming a juggernaut in years to come, with the amount of silicon they are to be buying.

It was a silly remark to make in the first place, /s tagged or not tbh.

A lot of the Netherlands is actually below sea level, isn't it?
