So... I could be in-game and still technically, legitimately, signed into work??!! :)

How much extra will that cost, though?
Can't imagine it going down too well here....
Re: Microsoft HoloScreens virtual monitors could boost productivity
It works surprisingly well - and is a huge improvement on the old methods of doing this.
Sadly even on the second gen the FOV isn't wide enough to make it practical today (actually works a LOT better using Virtual Desktop and a VR headset) but it's still really cool and is a nice use case.
Re: Microsoft HoloScreens virtual monitors could boost productivity
Is the headset still about £2500 ?

Yes, but its still a dev kit - not in any way anywhere close to a consumer bit of hardware or price ;) I'm very lucky to work for a company with access to EU R&D grants that we've been able to use to kick start some of our VR/MR prototypes.....its really not worth £2500+vat for most people, however cool it is.
MS are readying a new programme though where you can "rent" the dev kit for something like $100 a month. Details are still TBC though I think (e.g. is it rent to own, is it global or US only etc).

What about Hololens 2? Is that still a dev device? Noticed the price on that is £3500!!!
And I so wanted to see Minecraft like in that tech demo! (Which I believe never really came to anything)
Re: Microsoft HoloScreens virtual monitors could boost productivity
Yes, it is still a development kit. It's less bulky and has a better FOV, but still very much a development kit!
I've not looked into minecraft support for a while yet but I don't believe that tech demo was ever released in public. I think it's essentially become "minecraft earth" now.
