    Say to hello to beblu

PCs are now synonymous with home entertainment. Not only that, but a nice small form factor model won't look out of place in your living room. We're seeing more and more products hit the market aimed at getting PCs into the living room. A Scottish company from the name of beblu has just announced its new products, catering for... you guessed it, home entertainment PCs.
Many features in the beblu product range are unique to the market. These include a touch sensitive power switch with a subtle activity indicator ring that shows the power state and hard drive activity.

The innovative integrated IR receiver and backlit character LCD is supported by leading software such as Microsoft Media Centre, Girder and LIRC. Also unique is the use of modern materials such as thermal conductive pads to maximise the heat dissipation and reduce noise sources such as hard drive vibration.
Very much like a decent hi-fi system, a beblu system consists of various modules which can be stacked one on top of the other, next to each other, or however you want. This allows expandability and of course you don't have more hardware than you need.

Check out beblu's press release and also their website for more pictures and information.

I actually had exactly the same idea some years ago (before SFF's) and did a uni project on it. If it became more common place it would be easy for non-technical minded people and techies to upgrade and swap kit with the same ease as Hi-Fi equipment. I think modularisation (is that a word?) could be taste of future home entertainment PC's. The main problem I came up against was seperating the GFX card etc from the motherboard. But who knows what the the future holds. Nice to see a british company getting in there first.

    Is it just me...

...or is the sneaky old desktop chassis currently engaged in serious case of 'disguised backdoor entry' ?

    ?.. ?.. ?

Yes, modularisation is a word, at least we use it at college.

beblu system uses EPIA boards of P4/P-M and I'm guessing graphics will be onboard. That could be a problem, but as long as the motherboard itself is swappable that should be less of an issue.

I think a powerfull yet totally passively cooled system would be posible with a modular aproach.
