Wonder if this is in response to the unannounced yet leaked Samsung Exynos+Radeon combo doohickey.

I mean, that leak showed it being ~100% faster and Qualcomm over here be like "15% yo!".

Nope - more likely due to the cost of the Snapdragon 865 which need a separate 5g modem. 5G modem included in this and quite a lot cheaper
