VerminMedia use 2 Technologies 1) Virgin Media to deliver their services. Virgin uses coaxial cables to connect individual premises to the exchange. The rest of its network uses fibre optic cable and this combination is known as Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) 2) New FTTP – Fibre from the Exchange all the way to Homes. But this is going through the crapBucket that is HUB 3 & HUB 4 – which are fundamentally flawed by using the Intel Puma Chipset (The advisory (INTEL-SA-00097) and related CVE (CVE-2017-5693) just 2 of many reports on the net – No amount of Firmware updates will fix these. The Sooner BT install Fibre to more cities and towns the Better – then you can go off to other ISP for your Internet such as ZEN etc. We wont be seeing the Above Tech anytime soon at a home level but its good that such work shows the possibilities of Fibre.

The problem with this is that the avg joe doesnt know about this stuff (and wont understand it either, most likely) and will continue to give VM their monies.
