I was expecting 2160p res refresh rather than 144hz...
If it support G-Sync and Freesync, I assume it is general VRR and not a dedicated G-Sync module?

Yeh no dedicated module. A good thing for some though as the 38GL950 that this monitor shares a panel with had a really annoying gsync fan noise problem.Quote:

I think for most people, the older model is probably a better buy if you can get it at a decent price...this seems rather overpriced imo and not that interesting.
You lost me at 21:9, "curved" didn't help either. Last but not least, no REAL gsync, no buy. Yes, I want that module, because it is BETTER. Caving to the lowest common denominator is not my idea of gaming :) I'm willing to PAY for the best on a 10yr item (my current Dell 24 16:10 still pumping at 12yrs looks like new, still 30+ more on brightness to go of 100), especially when it's basically $10 a year to get that. I'll gladly pay $10-15 a year for a decade to have better gaming for that whole decade. That other way I save $150 or so, but must DEAL with that monitor's shortcomings until it dies. No thanks.
That said, I'll have to buy something soon, as this thing can't have much life left even though it looks like I just bought it (added 10 brightness in the last 2yrs but other than that). My dad's is 12yrs old too, and he hasn't raised brightness at all (still at 50), but mine is the higher model, gets hotter etc. So it figures my requires more juice to show more color etc. Same thing, just I have HC model (high color gamut). I doubt today's dell monitors (likely from China now..ROFL), would last 6yrs. I'm not looking forward to replacing our Dell's. At this point it's a compromise on everything available. I'd be ticked just having to buy one. Bring back 16:10. You could sell at least 4 monitors to my family immediately. We are all clutching 16:10's (probably 8, since we all have 2 pretty much). A few in my family don't care, but I think that is just more about money than NOT wanting 16:10. If they had the money, they'd buy what we buy.
