I saw on hot uk deals a 'leaked' amazon pricing of £599, though this source is very hairy

Looks like ThermalTake tried to rip off a BitFenix case and then rejected the end result...

Yep. That's ugly! (Not that my opinion matters that much as I won't be going next gen for a long time having just built a new PC)

yeah that case design is a bit naff aesthetically at least, I suppose you can't please everyone but Microsoft's XBX I think has won the looks battle already

Re: Sony takes the wraps off its PlayStation 5 consoles

It'll be going in an AV cabinet so don't care about looks, just hoping that £599 isn't for the diskless version. ALthough that listing is for a 2tb model, so not sure if it's not just a placer...

Re: Sony takes the wraps off its PlayStation 5 consoles

4k blueray players seem to start at £150, hopefully this will not just be lumped on top of the cost of the non-digital model and help offset the cost. That was a big draw for me getting the PS3 back in the day.

Hopefully pick up a bargain PS4 Pro once it's out and bag one of these a year later

Re: Sony takes the wraps off its PlayStation 5 consoles

Maybe it's me but I have a nice tv unit where I stick my blu ray player etc in 'holes' and none of my stuff looks like 'toys' so why is it that games console keep going down the vertical route and at the same time looks like cheap toys.... some of us would appreciate a nice classy design that fits in with the rest of our media kit.

The xbox looks better but it's vertically designed and while they say you can put it on it's side I'm not sure it's the best idea.

Re: Sony takes the wraps off its PlayStation 5 consoles

The disc-less model makes no sense to me. For the price of what, two games, with no DLC, you're going to be at the mercy of PS store pricing for the next 5+ years? Surely swapping/borrowing/second-hand games is the only thing going for consoles these days now every game is released as a work in progress to get patched later, maybe.

"I think it is called fanboyism"

It could be because both systems are arguably the worst designs ever.

Do you mean visually? Technically I think the designs are pretty neat, they look very well balanced systems. Aesthetically.. well I would never make a games console part of my 'look' for a living room, they can hide away somewhere.

Re: Sony takes the wraps off its PlayStation 5 consoles

Some people will probably display their new console ( whatever brand ) with pride
I think if i was a console player i wouldn't like to see the machine at all, for sure that blue light on the Sony to which i have suffered a severe blue light allergy for years.

Then again i do display my PC case, and go to great lengths to make it stand out a little ( not too much cuz that it get silly too )
I am glad my next case will go down on the floor, but that dont mean it will be unseen as it is a monster size case so really no way around it, but i hope it can just be discrete monolith on the floor beside my computer table.
