You gotta wonder, how many games and subsequently scenes he had to go through to find a AAA game and area that ran at that framerate

I love that Intel is still pushing that TB4 is 4 times faster than USB 3 garbage. They're not wrong, but they're being misleading, it's 4 times faster than USB3.1 (most common).

Very interesting about the supposed iGPU performance though...

As for the frame rate, Shrout asserts that his Battlefield V gaming experience was 'great' with the FPS "hovering at or above 30 frames per second".

Hands up those that game who would consider "at or above" 30 FPS as a great gaming experience...

pretty much a minimum for low spec gaming
60 would be more a standard, but even that will be low for some people.

If it has Freesync then I could game on that. Fixed sync, no thanks. I always figures Freesync could benefit Intel more than anyone else.

and if anyones interested... here's a video of what AMD can do now, albeit 4700u... seems a little higher than the 25fps mentioned in the article (assume settings different)

They are using custom settings and most of the settings are medium or lower. This demo is using a High preset.

It ends up in a bit of a weird space. 1080p30 isn't particularly compelling, but it's better than anything else out there at 25w, I guess?

Not really quick enough to be a gaming-focused device, only quad core so not competitive with Renoir in anything that scales, just reasonably quick at most things and not outstanding at any.

They're also using a 'heavier' part of the game and capturing the screen directly rather than using a camera... it's also available now instead of 2021...

70% resolution scale, lol. That's not at all comparable.

The best APU so far? I'm not seeing how this isn't compelling - it's not as if everyone needs 4k60 at ultra just to have games worth playing. Granted we'll need decent pricing for it to be competitive, but it's the best experience you'll get on any dGPU-less laptop

Bit like 'fastest racewalker' or something, isn't it?
