I think most enthusiasts already know that whatever they buy will be obsolete in terms of "being the fastest" in fairly short order. I generally take no issue with it, if I was building a PC right now it would be AMD / Nvidia based. As to the slides shown, I think most of us know by now that both Intel and AMD have provided misleading marketing slides. In fact I'm pretty sure it's a prerequisite to be able to present an alternative version of the truth in marketing to make products look good, the gullible are easily parted with their money.
Re: Intel Comet Lake vs AMD Renoir gaming slide causes controversy
So the Intel Notebook uses 35 to 45% more power to be upto 23% faster
For example,
Intel 15" with larger volume for larger heat dissipation, CPU 45w TDP + turbo (upto 90w), GPU 90w, MB+RAM+screen+misc 6w = 141w TDP, 186w peak
AMD 14" thinner and smaller, CPU 35w TDP + turbo (upto 55w), GPU 65w, MB+RAM+screen+misc 6w = 106w TDP, 126w peak
Intel loves showing all day runtime using optimised software and light loads. When Intel show max performance @100% they don't show power usage.

I cannot stand the fact that they haven't actually said what the fps are.
Plus, the bottom square box... the text is not in the middle. That's a newb thing.
Re: Intel Comet Lake vs AMD Renoir gaming slide causes controversy
Yesterday, I sold all my Intel shares. I m quite happy now.

Nobody buys gaming laptops for their "sleekness". Not sure about you, but I would much prefer a laptop with a bigger screen that's also cheaper AND performs better over half a centimeter of thickness.

Most people I know who have a gaming laptop, buy them since they are more portable, and can game on the move. Everyone I know who wants a smaller gaming PC,but it won't be moved, uses a mini-ITX rig.
The Asus G14 is a 14" portable laptop, with an 8C/16T CPU and a RTX2060 Max Q,and hybrid magensium alloy/composite construction. It weights only 1.6KG! The MSI laptop Intel used was a cheaper built unit, and a 15.6" laptop which weights 50% more. The Asus is 324*222*179mm,and the 357*248*27.5mm,so is 3.5cm wider,2.4cm higher and 1cm thicker.
The GL65 also consumes 30~40W more at idle, and upto 60W more under load,so produces more heat, and runs the fans more often,so is noisier.
Also,it has very poor battery life too. The MSI also comes with a tiny 51Wh battery and the Asus has a 76Wh battery.

That is from NBC,and the equivalent Intel version of the laptop, has worse battery life with the same sized battery, and runs hotter, etc so more fan noise.
LTT also tested some equivalent Intel laptops too:

He is literally mocking the Intel laptops when he shows a 14" 1.6KG Asus G14,outperforming a massive Acer Predator Helios 700 which weighs over 4KG.
Edit!!
Also, there are CHEAPER Ryzen 4000 based laptops, but Intel decided to use a cheaply made MSI laptop, against the most expensive Ryzen 4000 laptop out there.
The MSI is cheaply made - my mate had a similar one,and one little knock, and the side got caved in. The hinges on a number of them are screwed into plastic so eventually break.

I would. I don't want to have a laptop for gaming and another one for portability. If it's not easy to fit in a small cabin bag for flying then forget it - ditto if it weighs too much - certain airlines only give you 10kg total weight these days!
Re: Intel Comet Lake vs AMD Renoir gaming slide causes controversy
Its quibbling over percentages .. Nobody really notices 5-10% difference. Shady marketing ? well well. A Plague on both their houses ... follwoed by a slow decline , replaced by ARM/Risc5 .
Lets have some true innovation with fully secure CPU's (CIA allowing) .
