I'm sure its great and all but I still maintain the Pixel range is poor (Or should I say Rich man's) replacement for the old Nexus line. Then again I'm liking the direction Google are taking Android less and less so maybe I'm not the target market. I used to associate the Nexus phone as engineers phone - stripped of the rubbish but good top specs on the cheap. Pixels just feel like a cheap iPhone wannabe.
    Trust

    Laptop : Dell Inspiron 1545 with Ryzen 5500u, 16gb and 256 NVMe, Windows 11.

the 3A was about the same price as the old nexus and is performing admirably. I'm really happy with it, and will be buying mrs Ik9000 the 4a if it's as good. And long live 3.5mm jacks. I hope the 4a still has one too.

The OnePlus Nord is much better value imho: 8GB RAM, 6.44" AMOLED, 5G LTE SIM Free 128GB - £349 on hotukdeals today.

I'd agree. OIS on main 48mp camera but it's still not a fantastic camera but at £350 it's a steal

5.8'' sounds good to me. As long as the battery life is good. And of course if the price is right...

That said, Google's hardware is so god awful I don't think I'll be getting it. I liked the nexus line, when phones were built by phone manufacturers.

Pixels not reknowned for amazing battery life or specs to be fair. I'd say the oneplus nord as mentioned above will be far better value

Pretty much. It'll be interested to see how far in front the 4a's camera is.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

It will only be in front due to processing, something that I imagine would improve from the Nord as firmware improves too

Google were of course the first Android manufacture to drop SD cards (making all their phones an automatic no from me) with the expectation that people use Google's awful* cloud storage, and I can't help think that the tiny batteries are another attempt to make their phones age quicker. Built-in obsolescence as a phone with barely adequate battery life when new quick turns into a phone with insignificant battery life when the battery is a few years old.

    * Well, maybe awful is too strong a word. I do use it because I get a few GBs free with my gmail account, but pity those who actually pay for it. The sync software has had tendency to crash when shutting down Windows and looking at it this bug is years old. Someone (possibly only semi-official) on their support forum seemed to imply that it was good enough for 'free' software ignoring those who had actually been silly enough to pay for extra storage. But then that's Google, they really make so much software which is in a permanent beta state.

No issues with google drive here on a samsung S10 or Win 10 over multiple machines. Can't think of a time that I had that bug either so ymmv. Yes I won't have a phone without extendable storage or 3.5mm socket but even the socket is going these days. Bluetooth for me just annoys me with the microdisconnects and clicking and yes I've tried all sorts of combos and it still happens over multiple devices. I hate clicking lol

If the OnePlus Nord is "scandi" north as Danes, you will soon need to put happy pills into it, blow some weed smoke in its face, and soak it in pure alcohol to keep it happy.

IF you want a huge screen and are happy with having a non stock android experience....

I don't personally want a huge screen on my phone and I'd personally rather have stock android so that it gets updated faster (manufacturer dependent of course)

The problem they have is that, to meet the critical sales mass to be financially viable, a phone can't just appeal to engineers (or similarly minded people). I get on really well with engineers. They just are not representative of society as a whole.

These days, an engineer will take enough interest to flash the phone and pop a decent, stripped down ROMmie deelie on the phone. There are plenty of smart enough people out there who could happily flash a phone, but most of them just don't have the interest.

Google used to produce Nexus devices to push Android development forward. Now, it feels like they do it to pretend to be Apple. Which is a bad idea.
