Re: Samsung unveils the Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra

Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus octacore at 2.84GHz,
    with Adreno 650 GPU
Exynos 990 in Europe and India

Why we get that in EU/India is it better or worse?!? either way it is very missleading what are we buying?

The US versions need modems which work with CDMA.

It's worse, and yes it is! They've a history of sending out solely the Snapdragon versions to reviews, too.

Re: Samsung unveils the Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra

It does feel like the Exynos is being made just to cheap out in the EU/India. Wonder why? If I was tempted by a £850 (yikes!) phone then cutting corners like that would put me off. Heck it would put me off my usual £200 odd phone.
    Trust

The standard Note has a ton of mid-range spec components - but still £850. Ouch.

Long as the price now plummets on the Note10+, I'll be fairly happy.

Its a CDMA requirement. Exynos does not support it. Qualcomm chipsets do. Most of the world uses GSM based technologies.

Qualcomm also has blocked Samsung from selling its own chips to other companies:

    https://www.androidcentral.com/qualc...g-exynos-chips

So,I suspect this is why they need to justify using them outside of the US,ie,volume.

Editor, Table says Note 10, not 20... (Under the Note 20 Ultra header)

This doesn't stop Samsung giving other regions a Qualcomm model!

CDMA is also used elsewhere in the Americas, and parts of China too IIRC. Looking at GSMArena the previous mode,ie,the Note 10 lists the Exynos as EMEA/LATAM:
    https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_gal...te10+-9732.php

EMEA,ie,Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The Note 20 says only the US for the Qualcomm version:

Re: Samsung unveils the Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra

I have an S20+. I have a few observations about this, looking at the specs:

    1) HOW MUCH?
This is closely followed by number 2 which is...
    2) HOW MUCH?!?!?!!
    3) My phone has a totally excessive 12GB of RAM and in normal use, I've found that I've had 3GB left spare. How? How does this work? How is stuff so badly coded that this happens? My Mac has 4GB and runs relatively fine. Same for a Windows laptop we have. Why is a 4G model equipped with less RAM?
    4) The size of the camera bump.
    5) 50X space zoom - so they realised 100X was utter bull then?
    6) From £1179? So 5G is a more expensive option? Wow.
    7) 3.5mm jack? Missing from an all singing and dancing phone?
    8) Is 120Hz in 1440p?
    9) No SD expansion on a Note that can come with 128GB? Madness. Just madness.
    10) My cost to change from a SIM only contract to an S20+ over 24 months was £410. Why in the name of our Sweet Lady of Guadeloupe would I pay this much for a pen? In fact, keep the extra.... I'll buy a notebook, a fancy pen (that won't be useless in 3 years time) and I'll take piccies of the giant penises I draw.
