Apparently it runs 'Windows on Snapdragon' but none of the pics appear to show anything of Windows. You can just about make out what looks vaguely like MS Office in some of them, but that's not necessarily Windows.

    Weird. I wonder why.

More Arm PC's are a good thing but MS still has the fundamental problem of that they have not gotten the ball rolling on porting software.

That's the big difference with Apple they will make universal applications built for X86 and Arm, get their software base to roll these out as they move to being more Arm focused.

You can now finally make Win32 desktop apps for 64-bit Arm PC's but other than MS themselves I don't know of a single Win32 software application that supports them so you have to rely on the x86 emulation layer.

Here is a little bit of similar history showing Windows NT 4 running on a RISC PowerPC chip along with an x86 emulation layer (this also went nowhere due to lack software & Arm is also RISC based).

At one point the x86 emulation for DEC Alpha was way faster (like double performance) than native Intel, native Alpha applications on a 600MHz 64 bit chip made Intel's top of the range 32 bit 233MHz chips look like toys (which in comparison they were).

But people don't buy what they consider a risk regardless of benchmark results, so it didn't sell. Not outside servers anyway, and later embedded in things like network switches.
