No, honestly I think there is a big culture factor here.
In my current role, a bug is slightly annoying to someone and might (might not) result in getting a terse email. But I use the same methods and try and put the same effort in as the jobs which could result in death. That's partly because buggy software results in customer calls and drags my productivity down, partly just because I have some respect for my users and want them to have a pleasant experience rather than driving them up the wall.
And with that, I shall now have a quick play of Far Cry 3. I say a quick play, because I know damned well it will crash after a while and then I will go read a book. I've given up Googling for fixes.

I mean, it feels borderline hubris to argue about code with someone who has unix in their name, but I gotta keep bringing up the point; games are just so incredibly complex, with so many different moving parts that it is impossible for coders to foresee conflicts without having millions of people testing all those things at once. Software is complex, no argument there. But games have all these intertwining mechanics, many of which are coded by whole teams of people, hell many teams of many people for many things, and they bring it all together in a final product of ginormous scope. It just doesn't feel reasonable to me to conflate it with software that has a defined goal.
I realise it sounds like I'm minimising the complexity of software that's not my intention..just...software and games..it feels very apples and oranges.

The retailers are currently only offering the S at the moment anyhow.
