Just regards ASDA switching providers. Glad I'm not with ASDA as I get decent EE signal but virtual nothing on Vodaphone. I assume these virtual operators let you cancel a contract when they pull tricks like this?

(I sure the s20 is lovely but at £1000 odd pounds I don't know a single person who would buy one)

In many places, if you have no Voda you have no signal.
They may not be very strong signals, but some signal is better than none and their coverage is usually the best along all my work routes.

Friend of mine bought the Note 20 Ultra...
It's very lovely if you're upgrading from, say, the S8 or earlier, but compared to the Note 10 it's nothing special. Something about Snapdragon vs Exynos chips and whichever one we don't get in the UK market...

When I say virtual no signal its actually worse than that - There is some but data never quite works which means if wifi drops for any reason you get nothing while the phone tries to hunt a signal. I am stuck with EE (Plusnet/BT) or Three (Id network). The joys of being in an urban NOT spot.

My comment on £1000 phones was flippant. I sure some people will buy one. I'm beginning to realise the £200 phones I buy are slightly too compromised, but I still doubt I'll go much above £400 and know no one with a £600+ phone except the odd iphone user. My wife's 3 year old car costs ~£85 a month on a PCP - I'm not spending that on a phone+contract for an s20 or note 20!

I really wish someone would investigate 'Coverage Maps' as most providers appear to be speaking out of their arses. I apparently have 'good indoor 4G' coverage, which I assume only refers to approximately every 3rd syllable...

I live in such a place and work in many such places, usually remote stretches of railway.
Voda are the only ones with coverage, every single time. A whole bunch of my gangs switched to Three because it was cheaper... and none of them get signal.

Like I said, it's worth it if you want the absolute top end and are coming from a much older and crappier model, same as if you have an XR3i and want an Aston Martin... But outside of that it is not worth the incremental upgrade.

That's my situation. All operators (and Ofcom) claim great signal or better, but I get nothing from vodaphone or O2. We had a smart meter install request come - I insisted they would get no signal, but they insisted on trying as computer said yes. Guy turned up went to the meter, said, oh no signal and left. I've not let them come back and waste my time further.
