Re: PlayStation 5 price matches the Xbox Series X, arrives 12th Nov
Looking forward to getting both, but I think I'll wait 12 - 18 months for a PS5 more of their exclusives will be out by then and the games should have dropped to a reasonable price. In the meantime I'll pay £30 a month and have Game Pass and a Series X to entertain me while I wait. The winners of the "console war" = gamers :-)

Would like the BD variant, for good reasons :)
Re: PlayStation 5 price matches the Xbox Series X, arrives 12th Nov
The price is really high I m not expecting this.
Re: PlayStation 5 price matches the Xbox Series X, arrives 12th Nov
If i wasn't getting a Rtx 3080, it would have been a PS5
Re: PlayStation 5 price matches the Xbox Series X, arrives 12th Nov
My sons both have managed to preorder, one with the disk and one without. Not a gaming fan but they tell me that it crashed all the sites where preorders were available.
Re: PlayStation 5 price matches the Xbox Series X, arrives 12th Nov
As per usual, new hardware for its own sake is a bit pointless. Until there’s a new god of war, naughtydog release or something really compelling I’ll just wait.
Re: PlayStation 5 price matches the Xbox Series X, arrives 12th Nov
It seems a decent price, but I'm not really sure what it has going for it in terms of exclusives just yet - the only game I was really interested in was the new Spider man, and that's coming to PS4 too anyway.

On pcpartpicker to make an equivalent PC build i'm coming up with around £700.

Interesting idea, but I've hit over £1,000
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/M7rQjp
- R7 3700X
- cheapest B550 board (PS4 has PCIe 4.0)
- 2x4GB of DDR4 (as the graphic card has 8GB too but of course not shared so 16GB DDR4 + graphic card would probably be more realistic)
- Corsair MP600 - needs to be PCIe. Seems the Gigabyte Aorus is sligthly cheaper. 1TB so a bit more capacity.
- Radeon 5700 XT 8GB - the non-XT is a close match to PS5 in terms of specs but since Sony clocked it so high a 5700 XT is closer in performance
- The cheapest case listed in pcpartpicker
- A 500W power supply - the Seasonic S12III was only a few pounds more than the cheapest listed.
- No operating system
Thing is, this PC would probably still run be a fair bit slower than the PS5

Yeah i think i left off the pc case, went for the cheapest 450 mobo and then eyeballed the dollars into pounds. Even with the better deals sony/msft most likely get buying a high volume of parts, the consoles must be loss leaders. I guess it must be the games tax, peripherals and subscriptions they make their money back on.

The digital edition shows this - disc drives aren't that expensive, the important thing for sony with that model is the cut they get from digital copies.
Sony getting the distribution revenue cut rather than brick and mortar stores means they can afford to discount the console, and they wouldn't even have to charge more than brick and mortar stores.

You would still get the free upgrade of Spider man on PS5 I think
