Assuming this is true...this is why you never jump in right on release...
Re: Gigabyte confirms GeForce RTX 3080 20GB graphics cards
Do you really need 20Gb?
Guessing this is more aimed at the professional types..
And still the cost keeps rising...

Not that it was possible this time around anyway, if you wanted an FE card at least ;) No bad thing if this really does launch in a few weeks though. AIB cards are a lot easier to get.
Re: Gigabyte confirms GeForce RTX 3080 20GB graphics cards
Shady stuff from Nvidia really..
I know its probably going to add another $100+ to the cards price but given how fanatical PC gamers can be about chasing the latest & greatest, I bet a huge share of buyers currently wanting the 10GB versions would cancel their orders and wait for the 20GB version if confirmed by Nvidia.
Re: Gigabyte confirms GeForce RTX 3080 20GB graphics cards
Glad I decided to wait until the new year before deciding which route to go. 3070Ti sounds interesting
Re: Gigabyte confirms GeForce RTX 3080 20GB graphics cards
My interest is piqued by the 3070 with 16GB. If it's the full GA104 more so than if it's a further cut down GA102.

What's shady about this? This is entirely Gigabyte's decision and it certainly isn't the first time this has happened.
I remember getting a 3GB EVGA GTX 580 a few years back, I believe they were the only brand who doubled the VRAM on the card.
a 16GB RTX 3070 would certainly be interesting. I've seen VRAM usage as high as 7.5GB in Half Life Alyx, and I don't crank the settings up on that. I'd definitely want a minimum of 10GB going forwards from here.

Eh? Nah. There's always something better in the future.
I also wouldn't be surprised if the inevitable 3080Ti's have 20GB also and probably in under a year.

when you play in 4K and max settings, texture rate becomes larger and does require larger vram, so bigger is better

$100+ you must be joking, more like $300 you forgot to add Nvidia tax in this is GDDR6X
Re: Gigabyte confirms GeForce RTX 3080 20GB graphics cards
yup. £900-£1k is my prediction.

Nah, they'll only bump up the price that much if they also hike up the Cuda Cores count as well (which they wont cus it would make them too close to the 3090) If its just an extra 10GB of VRAM, I reckon the price will top out at $799 for the FE cards.
GDDR6X is expensive...but its not that expensive.

Yes... I'd happily take a their quadro with 48GB if it wasn't stupidly priced.... 3D rendering with the gpu etc.

I reckon a 3080 20GB will be about £850-£950, leaving room for a 3080Ti to slot in at around the £1250 mark to fill out the stack.
