Thought people are poor these days, but seems like they aren't at all. Heck, even 3090 will sell like crazy.
Re: Xbox Series X/S consoles sold out on pre-order day one
Was pretty easy to order a Series S for the wife's upcoming November Assassin's Creed-athon. I'll wait on the Series X2 or whatever the revision will be.
Got a One S going cheap soon...
Re: Xbox Series X/S consoles sold out on pre-order day one
Managed to get a Series X from Currys. Don't get the confusions with the One X, its a different price, looks totally different and its available for next day delivery - couldn't be further away from a Series X. I think the boost in One X sales personally is off the back of the Bethesda news and people wanting to buy an Xbox for GamePass.
Re: Xbox Series X/S consoles sold out on pre-order day one
Well it's a good job they didn't bring out an IN/XS version as many would have been left hanging...
Re: Xbox Series X/S consoles sold out on pre-order day one
If Nintendo can get decent supply of the rumoured 4k Switch for easter time, they could take a good amount of sale Sony and Microsft lose at Xmas (if they announce, which they won't).
They clearly don't have a good enough supply yet, AMD have recently acquired more, but we'll have to wait and see.
The memory card is a real problem. Many 100GB games already without 4k, the internal SSD, aswell as the memory card, are going to be worthless.
They'll clearly try to exploit the situation too, by pushing memory card sales, which won't be cheap.

No it's not, it 100% is confusion over the name. Just about everyone knew and predicted this would happen, it's very, very poor.
We know, because we game and are techy, most people (those buying for gifts especially) have no idea.

"Conspiracy! OTT marketing spin has gone off the rails! Building hype! deliberately underestimated numbers so demand would inflate the price! little more than a paper launch! cheap business / marketing move! cheap marketing tactics. Lies lies lies everywhere!"

microsoft have no interest in tracking anyone. In fact all they care about is users privacy. It's why they have a completely transparent win10 OS with absolutely no telemetry and tracking whatsoever... sorry one second, breaking news... that was called windows 7? It's been downhill since then? they absolutely do mine and sell your data?

I'm sorry but surely you can understand there's a difference between: going out of stock after a day of sales with plenty of people buying them and being "out of stock" at the very moment of launch?? One of these scenarios looks worse than the other and leaves a bad feeling... Do you not think so?

How do you know the 3080 went out of stock after a day of sales with people buying them? MS have said they were out of stock within hours, and the websites selling PS5 crashed, just like the websites selling 3080.
The Xbox/PS5 haven't even been released yet and they're out of stock.

The Xbox/PS5 launch was perfectly reasonable and so was the 3080 launch in your eyes?
Fair enough, much ado about nothing then.

I dont thin its that they dont have them, I think they are trying to keep the demand there up to the release date, so in a week or so when the release more stock for pre-orders it will still sell out, this 'sell out' will cause more news articles and cause more sensationalism around the release, all driving hype.

You do realise that "hype" is part of how to make your products desirable and make a profit don't you?
Very rare that a product will have lots more availability than demand because that will only deflate the market prices
