Re: Corsair launches its first aRGB power supplies, CX-F RGB Series
So bored of RGB now. Isn't there anything else pointless on the horizon?
Perhaps hydraulics, like those cars that bounced up and down at traffic lights.
Or rather than light pollution, every component could have a small speaker. You could make an SSD make a chirp noise every time it is accessed, so you can pretend you have a hard disk in there :D

Re: Corsair launches its first aRGB power supplies, CX-F RGB Series
I was going to sand my eyes but then thought these *might* have a use in SFF sandwich layout cases with a transparent side panel where the PSU is mounted sideways with the fan facing the side panel and you wanted it to light up. A bit niche but I can see certain people wanting it. Now I'm going to go sand my eyes.

Re: Corsair launches its first aRGB power supplies, CX-F RGB Series
Good God! Is there anything left in the case that hasn't had an led stuck to it yet?
-
Re: Corsair launches its first aRGB power supplies, CX-F RGB Series
Huh, so this is it right ? Is there anything left to RGB ?
I'm not a fan of it personally; while I do really like the look of RGB setups when someone else owns em, I just hate the idea for myself. But ya now with this people are gonna be able to fully coordinate all lighting in their cases.

Re: Corsair launches its first aRGB power supplies, CX-F RGB Series
So so sick of RGB. Plain colours are so much better but even that I'm tired of now.

I think it has all been done; SSD, motherboard, CPU cooler, RAM, video card, fans.
It is an increasing effort on new builds to turn all this crud off, as none of the users seem to want it.

Re: Corsair launches its first aRGB power supplies, CX-F RGB Series
My PSU is covered by a shroud and even then the fan points to the floor

I don't believe cables have had the RGB effect yet.
Hey Corsair I have an idea.........

Don't forget your RGB cables.
edit: beat me to it!

Re: Corsair launches its first aRGB power supplies, CX-F RGB Series
We need RGB motherboard standoffs.

Re: Corsair launches its first aRGB power supplies, CX-F RGB Series
As a 'professional' who doesn't want or need rgb lighting it's getting incredibly hard to find a well designed case that doesn't include glass because it's basically designed around 'lighting up the room' with colours.... I don't want that sort of rubbish, it's affects colour accuracy when I'm working, not to mention imo just looks tacky in most cases.
Please manufacturers, think of the users who don't want rgb when you design your cases/parts, or at least offer up a non rgb and/or non glass side panel options for your cases...
-
Re: Corsair launches its first aRGB power supplies, CX-F RGB Series
Can't you just turn the lights off ? I have a glass sided case with lots of rgb, fans, mainboard, bits and pieces but if I am doing graphics work I just turn it all off.

I think most 'professional' users will use system builders rather than build it themselves these days. Dell etc. can source their own non-RGB stuff. System building is probably becoming more for those who do want to express themselves just like car modders etc.

Checking the specs Corsair says that these PSUs also offer a Zero RPM mode for idling / low load situations.
So, the point of having an RGB fan at zero RPM? I can't recall the last time my PSU fan actually turned on (aside from testing it worked).

I guess as a professional you'll want Y Cr Cb lighting?
...
I'll get me coat.

My case mod project are build with one such case, so i am ditching the glass in favor of something not transparent.
BUT ! i am still going to have a little light in there, but just 1-2 colors and not really something you will see in day 2 day operations.
I have just ordered a nice new keyboard, and it have light too, which i will use just in 1 steady color, then i dont have to use my lamp on the computer table at night when i am typing.

Re: Corsair launches its first aRGB power supplies, CX-F RGB Series
My case has a PSU shroud... so no.

In all honesty I can't find a spec anywhere near what I want from most of these oems (hell I'm struggling to find a place to buy the ram I want, even crucials own site is out of stock lol) and in all honesty after I've adjusted the specs to get as close as possible they usually end up costing a LOT more than it would cost to build it myself (even after taking off a fair cost to build and any 'fix at home' warranties they might give).... now I might be in the minority in 'professional' circles but this thread is showing I'm not alone in not wanting rgb etc

Re: Corsair launches its first aRGB power supplies, CX-F RGB Series
Rubbish, Garish, and Boring.
On the other end of the stick, i`ve seen `blackout` components (no RGB) on sale at a premium over the lit versions, so less is actually more sometimes

Re: Corsair launches its first aRGB power supplies, CX-F RGB Series
Brilliant, I can't stand RGB and think this looks absolutely disgusting, but I just know there'll be someone who fits this upside down just to show off the colours.
Can we go back to solid panel cases, or cases with slots for side fans yet, please. :P

Err... hello!!
To be fair, most of the whiners have never seen it done well, though it's not exactly an effort to press the OFF button...
Then again, if I were them, I'd be whinging and campaigning for the removal of Thunderbolt, Firewire, BIOS Flashback, rear audio, OC Boost, and all the other cost-raising motherboard guff that I personally don't use...

It's the little things, like how BIOS updates seem to re-enable the default RGB settings. Mouse drivers have to be installed just to turn the LEDs off. With lots of PCs to maintain, it feels like I am constantly turning off the RGB on something making it annoying like a dripping tap can get to you over time.
Thunderbolt can certainly go as well though. That isn't the same; Thunderbolt is an un-kept promise, something that says it is going to make life wonderful and then drives you nuts with its random strops. Had a girlfriend like that once.
Don't need either in my life :)

There was a comment earlier about just turning them off if you don't want them on too... seems pretty pointless to have the extra cost if they're always turned off.
I've actually seen it done well but the reasons I don't want it isn't about how the pc case looks... and even if it was about aesthetics, my personal preference for case design is minimalist without any glass rather than having a glass side panel (which I wouldn't see due to where/how my pc is situated and the side of my desk it's on... my left) with Blackpool illuminations inside.
As to thunderbolt, tbh it's falling under the same issues that firewire (I used to network my pc's with this when gige wasn't 'standard') had, 'good' product but lack of universal support (not to mention rubbish windows support) and a competing product (ironically usb in both cases) being better supported cross platform.
Audio, I'd be happy with a board without onboard audio and then using a decent add on card, I'm not into OC (I'm primarily after stability and 'long usage') so the boost option could go too.

As well as reset numerous other things back to default, too, like my fan curve profiles. I have to go in and recreate all that stuff, but that's just the nature of computermabobbing, innit.

If I made a list of all the pointless/unused features my Windows, Office, monitor, motherboard and case came with, and then adjusted the price for a stripped down version, I'd probably be able to afford a second car.
The point is, RGB is one of many, many wonderful things that only some people have a use for, but is still included to give everyone that choice. If you don't like having many, many wonderful choices of many, many wonderful things, go and buy Apple.
