I can only consider IPS. The False colours you get with all TN screens when viewing off center is really off putting. I believe VA monitors have the same problem but when viewing them directly on. I simply don't want the colours to change when the angle changes. The only downside is the pinky purply effect you get when they are very dark but that's nowhere near as distracting.

I'm waiting till prices of a 27" freesync 2560x1440 IPS 75 or more hz monitor are more reasonable then I'll probably get another screen :-S

I have the Viewsonic XG2703-GS for the last 3 years, my first IPS (AHVA - AU Optronics version of IPS) and love it. It's been a butter smooth, vibrant and rich colored experience. 1440p@165hz in OC mode, or 144hz in stock with Gsync has been a brilliant gaming time of it. This monitor is pre-HDR generation, but the richness of color saturation of an IPS panel really holds it's own well.

I dell s2716dg, TN 144HZ 1440p and like it, have used IPS (older tech) and didn't like the light bleed. Modern tech appears to reduce/get rid of this, so may jump if either this one dies or if an unmissable bargain appears.

I have been using a AOC U3277PWQU VA monitor for the last 4 years and can see no reason to replace it until it fails. I'll see what is available when the time comes but, very happy with VA. Good VA panels are far superior to poor VA. As things are I like Samsung QLED, as on our TV, VA with a quantum dot overlay.

TN - garbage image quality but near zero input lag & high refresh rates overcome the poor motion resolution of sample and hold based displays, good for esports or competitive PVP but not much else if you have options.

IPS - the jack of all trades, decent image quality and capable of high refresh rates with low input lag.

VA - better image quality than IPS in certain areas but lags behind for gaming, though newer VA panels are closing the gap.

IPS is pretty much the dominant LCD in PC monitor space whereas in TV space VA is dominant LCD.


OLED - is the king for image quality and has very low input lag with extremely fast response times and high refresh rate, however the risk of image retention requires careful usage of these displays and is best paired with an LCD for general desktop usage.

OLED's like LCD's have poor motion resolution but stutter more with 30FPS or lower content than LCD's do (motion processing can counter). OLED's are best suited with high FPS content which is not a problem for PC's.

MiniLED - not a display tech just an improved backlight system for existing LCD's, improves image quality but carries a high price tag, only used on pro-products in PC space.

OLED is great for TVs, but has its limitations for PC monitors...screen-burn is still an issue.

All 3 of mine are IPS, a basic AOC 32" and Benq 32" Design View with 24" Dell for keeping an eye on the emails etc. I've always had larger monitors from my first 17" Iiyama CRT via Hitachi 21" CRT to the Dell 24", to what I have now. I still want to have a 32" monitor with a 4:3 aspect ratio, 3840 * 2880 would be great.

I've been using a Dell S234L IPS monitor for 6 years. I haven't the room for anything larger and I'm pretty happy gaming at 1080p on this IPS monitor. Definitely prefer the bolder IPS to the TN display of my previous monitor. The only fly in the ointment can be reflections but closing the blinds solves it mostly and then to be honest when I'm in the zone gaming, I don't notice them.

I've only ever used TN panels and CRT monitors. Can't say I have a preference aside from features and pricing.

IPS, preferably true 10bit... I work in design so no brainer really, I need colour accuracy (after calibration of course) over fps, although I wouldn't mind a bump up from 60hz when I go 4K.
