As you mentioned there are some rather large caveats to those numbers, such as unreleased CPU, engineering sample boards, no mention of GPU being used. Also they don't mention which system they ran against the 3080/3090 as a comparison or driver versions etc. I'll wait for the official reviews.
This might not be AMD's biggest Big Navi.
If I'm not mistaken, some earlier articles said that hw raytracing on AMD's most powerful Big Navi will be coming early next year.
If the GPU in this article here (at Hexus) is coming this year, then the 'biggest navi' has yet to make an appearance.
I'm fine with the performance levels... especially when its trading blows with 3080 and its not too far away from 3090.
It will be interesting to see a full suite of independent third party benchmarks though and features tested.
Either way, this may be a good sign for AMD and better support from devs to use AMD gpus.
Curious that they used 3200 DDR4, doesn't Ryzen like to be at 3600?
How are you getting such poor results in Borderlands 3? I get over 70 fps at 4k on a 2080 Ti. Dial down Volumetric Fog and watch your framerate soar.
Anyway, it looks like we might have a price war incoming, which is all to the good. AMD are competing with Nvidia at long last.

If i know what the other player have, and i have a good hand, i am not going to play my biggest card first.
PS: I do not play poker.
If AMD have done that, for the next few weeks fans of the other side will have a field day, and then on OCT 28 or when reviews come out and they have a big card ( no matter its price ), they could shut those up, and that would be worth millions saved on commercials.
IMO a good product will always sell itself better than any amount you can pay google to sell your stuff.
BUT ! of course it have to be a good product.
Took delivery of Flight Sim 2020, today. Now to sit back and see who will be getting the budget for the graphics card upgrade.
Don't worry AMD will price it higher than Nvidia, because its 5% faster.
