Lisa also didn't specify which GPU specifically so AMD could be holding out on us by showing us the second highest card rather than the flagship, but this could all very well be wishful thinking.
Agree with this. All I want is brillaint performance at 1440p. I have no need for 4k/8k performance
Hopefully they can match the 3080 with improved power consumption and my new system will be AMD all the way

There's absolutely nothing that would indicate that, so not sure why you'd think that.

To your earlier point about AMD's testing notes, I have copied the relevant section from the presentation deck for full disclosure.

'Testing done by AMD performance labs on 09/26/20 on a system configured with a new AMD graphics card, graphics driver 2009241322_20.45, Ryzen 9 5900X CPU, 16GB DDR4-3200MHz, engineering motherboard and BIOS, on Windows 10 Pro x64 19041.508. Games tested at 4K as follows: Borderlands 3 (DX12, Badass), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (DX12, Ultra), Gears of War 5 (DX12, Ultra). Performance may vary. GPU redacted.'
As you mentioned there are some rather large caveats to those numbers, such as unreleased CPU, engineering sample boards, no mention of GPU being used. Also they don't mention which system they ran against the 3080/3090 as a comparison or driver versions etc. I'll wait for the official reviews.

Re: AMD outs Radeon RX 6000 performance - same as RTX 3080?

This might not be AMD's biggest Big Navi.
If I'm not mistaken, some earlier articles said that hw raytracing on AMD's most powerful Big Navi will be coming early next year.
If the GPU in this article here (at Hexus) is coming this year, then the 'biggest navi' has yet to make an appearance.

I'm fine with the performance levels... especially when its trading blows with 3080 and its not too far away from 3090.
It will be interesting to see a full suite of independent third party benchmarks though and features tested.

Either way, this may be a good sign for AMD and better support from devs to use AMD gpus.

Curious that they used 3200 DDR4, doesn't Ryzen like to be at 3600?

I think you're mistaken - I've never heard that before, but show us a link and we can check!

How are you getting such poor results in Borderlands 3? I get over 70 fps at 4k on a 2080 Ti. Dial down Volumetric Fog and watch your framerate soar.

Anyway, it looks like we might have a price war incoming, which is all to the good. AMD are competing with Nvidia at long last.

What do you get on 'badass' quality settings without dialling anything down?

Why would I want to use benchmark settings? I can get 90fps with my card! That's better than a 3090!

Re: AMD outs Radeon RX 6000 performance - same as RTX 3080?

If i know what the other player have, and i have a good hand, i am not going to play my biggest card first.

PS: I do not play poker.
If AMD have done that, for the next few weeks fans of the other side will have a field day, and then on OCT 28 or when reviews come out and they have a big card ( no matter its price ), they could shut those up, and that would be worth millions saved on commercials.

IMO a good product will always sell itself better than any amount you can pay google to sell your stuff.
BUT ! of course it have to be a good product.

Took delivery of Flight Sim 2020, today. Now to sit back and see who will be getting the budget for the graphics card upgrade.

Don't worry AMD will price it higher than Nvidia, because its 5% faster.

You don't have to use them, but if you choose not to do so then you are not comparing like with like and thus your figures are effectively irrelevant to the ones being discussed.

I think you missed his exclamation marks, which, in our dour British way of talking, indicate sarcasm.

AMD has always played on the slower but better value segment imho, if they're now within touching distance on performance, why would they not increase costs, if the bang/buck stays the same, to use the Hexus metrics, then that's not really a bad thing no?
