I think you're about right. Interesting that AMD provide the settings for almost all their other slides, but omit this one.

Re: AMD outs Radeon RX 6000 performance - same as RTX 3080?

Honestly, that's good enough performance for me since I'm still on 1440p. It all comes down to pricing now, and maybe availability. DXR performance is a secondary concern for me but I'll still be keeping an eye out on that.
Lisa also didn't specify which GPU specifically so AMD could be holding out on us by showing us the second highest card rather than the flagship, but this could all very well be wishful thinking.

Re: AMD outs Radeon RX 6000 performance - same as RTX 3080?

Yes. especially if those numbers are not from the biggest navi.
Still a substantial lift from the 5700 XT.
Outright performance dont interest me much as i have never wanted to pay for that, people that are interested in that will of course start taunting AMD in 3 - 2 - 1

I am interested in seeing what i can get at the same price point i paid for my 5700XT,,,, even if i am not shopping for a new GFX card as buying a new one every year would be stupid, not least for a person that are not exited about any new or coming games, and only play 1080p with a little ambition to go to 1440p.

Your 5700XT is more than enough for 1440p gaming if you wanted to.

if they keep those numbers and use lesser power, then AMD is a win, especially if they then clock well in comparison to what NVIDIA currently offer.

Also this could be fun, if this card listed here is just their standard one and their Variant of XX80 and XX90 is gonnna hit as a bombshell...

Either way, Dear AMD and NVIDIA... show me what you got and take my money when ya both have a proper thing on the market.

The backup notes tend to suggest AMD is using the built-in benchmarks.

Making matters deliberately nebulous is AMD not declaring exactly which Big Navi card this is.

Sure, and that makes sense, but I was impressed how the backnotes for all the other slides showed a lot of detail about the figures yet there wasn't a backnote (on the stream at least) about this one even with a few details (they didn't have to say which model, could have just said "big navi" ) .

Re: AMD outs Radeon RX 6000 performance - same as RTX 3080?

I know. Keeping it, at least until "colossus navi" come out in 2022.

The 105 W in the new Ryzen 3 are alluring VS my near 300 W threadripper, and they are also a good deal faster even if i added 500 MHZ to my CPU.

If i was to update on the CPU side, using my current RAM i will just be able to use half of it ( 4 X 8 GB = 32 GB )
It would be smarter to hang in there until Ryzen 4 i think, and maybe go DDR5 by then.

They do know what they are doing on the GPU front, they been in the front end of the market for many many years, mostly in the consoles though, but they do know what they are doing.

Either way AMD or Nvidia, which one of you is best? Please take my money for your biggest GFX card when we know, been jumping 2-3 generations and am hungry.

Tarinder, I think you're enjoying all this build up Is there a nice buzz around (virtual) Hexus towers at the moment?

I'll only enjoy it when Big Navi is in the house.

To your earlier point about AMD's testing notes, I have copied the relevant section from the presentation deck for full disclosure.

'Testing done by AMD performance labs on 09/26/20 on a system configured with a new AMD graphics card, graphics driver 2009241322_20.45, Ryzen 9 5900X CPU, 16GB DDR4-3200MHz, engineering motherboard and BIOS, on Windows 10 Pro x64 19041.508. Games tested at 4K as follows: Borderlands 3 (DX12, Badass), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (DX12, Ultra), Gears of War 5 (DX12, Ultra). Performance may vary. GPU redacted.'

Any typos in that are my own.

Re: AMD outs Radeon RX 6000 performance - same as RTX 3080?

Well so far it's pretty much what you'd expect - and tbh if AMD released a card that didn't at least come close to the 3080 both with Raytracing enabled and without they would effectively have shown they had given up entirely on the high end market.

Really curious what the real world numbers show when we can get some direct comparisons - I still don't really believe they can do it tbh, and I expect the Nvidia cards to still win out in most situations...but then again, if AMD can price their cards lower and get them to run quieter and get similar performance, that would be different.

I am unlikely to buy one as I find G-Sync ultimate very valuable and am the type to buy the best performance I can rather than best value performance, but I would give up G-Sync if AMD could push performance enough that I simply didn't need it and standard Freesync2+ would do the job.
