I was confused by that too but I think 2K has slowly become a term associated and (wrongly) synonymous with 1440p over recent years. I've heard youtubers and commentators now say 2K to seemingly refer to 1440p.

I am growing tired of this too, 1440p is 2.5k meaning 2880p is 5k (which it is). Even though not exact, 2k to me means 1080p, and yet so many people are convinced they are correct and won't be told otherwise.
