I feel bad for people who took time off from work just to play cyberpunk

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 is being delayed for a further three weeks

Disappointed obviously but as has been said already, I'd rather it was delayed for polish than pushed out early. Delaying again is absolutely the right decision.

2020 has and continues to make most things more difficult and more time consuming to do at work and at home. That there's posts above full of paranoia about motives for delay just seems bizarre.

I wonder how it would play from the disc without an internet connection to download the day 0 patch...?

    3. Cyberpunk 2077 is being hyped as the biggest game with tons of people looking to upgrade their PC for it.

Now for 3, you'd think as Tunnah said the combined sales of all the non-PC version makes them more important to CDPR but who knows why they seem willing to concentrate mostly on the GameWorks PC version?
Anyway, despite all the hype I never finished TW3. Was looking for a nice open-world RPG and while it is technically very good, being force to play Geralt doesn't appeal to me and the world isn't as open as all that.
Exactly - they are clearly prioritising the Nvidia Gameworks/RTX version over all other versions. CDPR like Epic is very biased towards Nvidia(probably because they have close ties).

Sadly this is the problem with CDPR - their fans will attack anyone who says anything remotely negative about them. There was a reviewer who didn't like the Witcher 3 for certain reasons, and he got so many threats he removed the review. He said it was a very good game, but didn't like certain aspects of it,so it wasn't for him. The CDPR fans couldn't handle it and they just swamped him.

This is why they start trying to call people names, instead of seeing past history. They did exactly the same thing with the Witcher 3 when it was pointed out it was most likely the last delay was partly due to adding certain rumoured Nvidia features. They went on going about consoles, etc and in the end we saw how in a matter of a few months,Gameworks features were added at the last minute. In none of the previous builds did we see it.

So they were more concerned about appeasing Nvidia at the last minute, which again if you have a partnership with makes sense. Nvidia has a history of doing stuff(and many enthusiasts have very short memories it appears of),such as forcing the removal of DX10.1 from games, etc to get one ahead of the competition and with RDNA2 apparently looking quite decent,Nvidia is under a ton of pressure too. Many Ampere sales will be because of the game, just like many Maxwell sales happened due to W3.

People have to look at how long the game was in development. RT was only announced in June 2019 VERY LATE in the dev cycle, which meant those poor devs would need to incorporate a totally new lighting and reflection system in around 9 months before release. There was also noise Ampere was meant to launch a few months ago,but was delayed.

Yet we only saw RT effects showed off a few months ago, which meant it took basically 12 months at least to get them to some level of integration into the game.

Plus, those talking about Covid seem to also deflect from a basic point - integration of new graphics features,QA/QC testing of those features and performance optimisation will take a very long time. These are the very things which will get delayed the most, because it requires tons of play testing and feedback to various programmers and engineers. Not only RTX but also DLSS needs to be added into the game, and the CDPR Red engine needs to have changes to accomodate these new additions - so its not only game level, but engine level.

It also requires sufficient quantities of the new Ampere GPUs to optimise and test for performance - so how long do people think it will take CDPR to play test on Ampere GPUs which only released last month?? Basically tons of people, and the very sort of thing Covid would cause delays to.

Also how conveniently the game is now delayed just after Nvidia will have launched the mainstream RTX3060 and RTX3060TI. That means CDPR will have time to playtest the game on those cards too.

If the consoles were the priority the PS5 and XBox Series X would be having RT at launch as dev kits have been around for quite a while(if you look at leaks),but since it isn't its clearly the technical aspects of adding new features which are delaying the game.

    Even CDPR confirmed this:

    https://www.videogameschronicle.com/...series-x-2021/

“The next-gen version is planned for the next year and the plans are still in place – we’ve never revealed specific dates, but it’s planned for the next year, so the delay doesn’t change much in this regard,” CD Projekt president Adam Kiciński told investors on Thursday.
That was about the last delay to November in June 2020. They literally said its ZERO to do with the next generation consoles.

If the delay is due to RT being added to the launch version on consoles,it would mean CDPR have done a 180 degree about turn on their own statements made this year. It would also mean RDNA2 cards would be getting RT sooner rather than later. It will be interesting to see if this is the case, and maybe MS/Sony pressured them then! Maybe it is all about the consoles - we will see!

So even after going back on their "no crunch" promise CDPR still can't get the game finished and add an extra three weeks of what will undoubtedly be crunch-level workload. I'd rather they delayed it another three months and stopped abusing their staff.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 is being delayed for a further three weeks

The issue is that wasting time on adding RT features so late in the dev cycle will also divide resources even further,so its going to impact other versions of the game too!

It also means more crunch time for the devs!

We still don't have any information to support the notion that RT features are causing the delay. Quite the opposite since CDPR state the PC version is ready. WCCF reckon it's more likely to be current gen consoles that are the reason for the delay.

the game for PC is ready and plays well on next-gen consoles and the company is finalizing the process concerning current-gen consoles.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 is being delayed for a further three weeks

Waiting for them to announce it's name change to "Cyberpunk Citizen Forever 2077" at this point...

In all seriousness, I don't mind the delay too much - already got too much to finish and a December release will give me time to finish the Black Ops Cold War campaign first, so that's a good thing.

The cause of the delay? Well, I don't really care as long as the end result is that we still get a good game out of it. Their latest excuse of "we have too many platforms to support" feels legitimate to me, and I don't see any reason why the delay would be directly due to Nvidia or adding more Nvidia features as it was with TW3 - thats done already - but it's very plausible to be related to getting it running well on all the different platforms, and the Nvidia specific features certainly won't be helping there.

We'll just have to wait and see, and in the meantime I will keep working through Horizon Zero Dawn

They should just release it to the PC market considering it's "ready", then for the console market when it's finished.

for me, if they release the game this year, it'll be enough. but they shouldn't have to announce a specific date every now and then if they are unsure whether they will completed the game by then..

Ideally, yes. But I suspect we are a smaller market and worth delaying for the extra marketing a simultaneous release brings.

Either that or the game is horrendous and they only want us to find out after we've all installed it

So much hype for this game. It reminds me of the lead up to No Mans Sky. I'm fully expecting some amazing reviews from IGN and a mixed steam review rating.

CDPR confirmed it it's the current-gen consoles that caused the delay:

    Obviously, they don't have RT.
