Re: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 stock levels are non-existent

It was predictable that they would not have enough stock. Frustrating, but predictable. That said I still tried to grab me a Founders Edition - unsuccessfully. Scan's website just couldn't cope with demand either. £469 seemed to good to be true and indeed proved to be so.

I'll wait now until stock is more readily available and reasonably priced. Maybe the new AMD cards will actually have stock and I'll pick up one of them instead.

it's getting a joke, it's like you know don't know how many you have made before you launch them

Re: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 stock levels are non-existent

Nvidia didnt make/license many GPUs because they knew AMD would compete against their new series, they created this situation to make everyone jump on the bandwagon and fight over the current low stock, this also served not having overstock cards and deal with them once AMD launches their new cards.

Re: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 stock levels are non-existent

Proshop have ordered about 5000 of these cards from various brands / models, and had 310 RDY to sell and around 410 more "in the mail"
So hopeful Danes wanting one of those better have their hand on the trigger

Peace sell ! But who is buying

Re: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 stock levels are non-existent

To make matters worse, OCUK were advertising free COD with certain 3070's, so a lot of people jumped on those cards only then to find out, when they actually got through the mess of the ordering system, that none of the cards were actually ever in stock. This happened myself also so I don't actually know where I stand now, payment taken out of Paypal but the card was never even in stock to be sold and not due for another 3 weeks at least. Some joke that is, no retailer should be allowed advertise for sale when the stock is not even with them nor even due to arrive (if ever) for another 2 to 3 weeks.

Scan were a joke too, whole site crapped out, multiple capatchas and then fails and payment fails.

Whole lot is an absolute mess.

I don't think the extra 2 weeks was anything to do with trying to build cards, it was all about trying to steal AMD's thunder, and while the cards don't look too bad, it matters not a toss if you cant get hold of them..

Re: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 stock levels are non-existent

My heart go out to the people with a dire need for a new GFX card and for whom buying a new model make perfect sense, but the regular part upgraders, well those better chillax and wait for summer.
At least if they want to keep their good mood intact.

I am going to see if i can snag myself up a nice 1440p screen around X mas, at least i think i have enough money saved up by then.
And then i better get on with my MOD and thats all stuff i can do, with parts i can go and buy anytime of the day.

Re: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 stock levels are non-existent

After seeing the Rx 6800 pricing I tried to buy a 3070. After seeing the actual cost of a 3070 I've realised the rx6800 was priced correctly and looks like where I'm headed unless a gigabyte eagle 3070 can magically appear in front of me before AMDs reviews are in.

Not sure whats worse - the distinct lack of stock or the inability of online retailers to complete checkouts when you do finally get a product in your basket. Scan - Im talking about you!

Re: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 stock levels are non-existent

I'm not overly surprised by the lack of stock on the 3070 launch. I'm still guessing the whole reasoning is that Nvidia have done this to try to steal AMDs launch momentum, to then release "updated" cards at a new MRSP higher than the one they've currently got for the crop of non-existent 30xx cards. The lack of communication from Nvidia is also disconcerting, if anything else is awry such as the manufacturing process, they need to start being upfront about it as all they're doing is causing reputational damage now.

How hard would it have been for them to set up a pre-order system like Apple for iPhones? The customer experience is currently atrocious.

Re: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 stock levels are non-existent

Managed to get a FE from scan, my brother was trying at the same but had no luck. Took about 5 attempts to get it in the basket, 3 attempts to set billing address, and another 3 attempts to pay (too scared to check my credit card balance as to how many times I've been billed!). The whole experience from add to cart to confirmation (which also took around 5 attempts) took 45 mins.

Current scan order status is 'Payment Authorised'. Fingers crossed it comes in a reasonable time frame.

Have to say, Scan should have anticipated ridiculous order volumes and put better scaling provisions in on their website, I imagine there's lots of disappointed people out there, my brother amongst them.

EDIT: to be fair to Scan, even if their site was working well, stock levels being what they are, the outcome would have been the same for many anyways I guess.

Still number 58 in the scan Q for a 3080, might ask to swap order over to 6800XT (as long as I can get it day 1)
