We build medical devices and sensors, many are critical to ICU operations.
    Split shifts for production staff. Either 05:00 - 13:00 or 13:00 - 21:00.
All staff not critical to hands on manufacturing to stay at home. Less than 10% of office staff are in.
Temperature monitoring of anybody entering the site.
All rooms have a load limit based around social distancing.
Barriers between desks and operator stations.
No site visits or people visiting us unless absolutely necessary, authorisation required from MD.
No foreign travel unless signed of from MD.
Home workers provided with IT, chairs, desks id required.
Sanitisation stations in all rooms and work areas.

    Think thats about it

A lot of essential businesses have hardened their procedures since the last lockdown finished.

I do agree with you there...I work in cloud computing and we've seen a massive spike in interest and new business... I guess companies finally realised that RDP'ing to your work desktop is not feasible lol.

Re: QOTW: Has your workplace seen post-lockdown upgrades?

Our office eventually reopened despite the building we're in never closing. I'm in most days, mental health issues are real and this has helped no end. There are usually 3-4 people in a space designed for over 100 so the measures in place re spacing, distancing, hand washing etc work well as we're all sensible adults.

No real need for investment as the area I work in was already happening.

My other half works in retail and was made redundant mid-Aug, found another job and is now hoping the same doesn't happen again. Being they've targeted December 2nd, at least this time there might be an end in sight. Plus we're buying a house and are due to exchange at the end of the month

Re: QOTW: Has your workplace seen post-lockdown upgrades?

My work really doesn't like home working for some reason I cannot determine (which is odd when we make software that helps with home working!) so tried to pull us all back in before Boris said it was ok. It was horrid. Plastic screening round the desks, a new desk right next to a door no one was supposed to use but everyone did to save going outside to get to the loo! After the latest work from home order we're back working from home which I prefer.

Tech wise the upgrade has been going from crappy bargain basement monitor, K/M to my mid end home kit. I don't really want to go back the office.

I have been back in twice during the lock down and was glad to get out. 5 people in an office for 100+ isn't nice.
    Trust

    Laptop : Dell Inspiron 1545 with Ryzen 5500u, 16gb and 256 NVMe, Windows 11.

Everyone was using the desk by the door rather than going outside to the loo?

Sounds like a distinct health and safety violation to me. Not to mention, just ..... ewwww!
