Any idea where we can actually buy one of these from? I've looked on the AMD website and the usual retailers but I don't see any listing like I did for the 3070.

Lambatek listed them today for a short while, mostly the Aftermarket models, 6800XT were listed up and beyond £800

Is there any evidence that during any previous mining booms, that either AMD or Nvidia actually made any extra money from mining? Okay, while the demand was high AMD didn't have to do their customary reduce prices after launch and during a product's lifespan, but a quick buck implies they received some of the extra profit rather than retailers, distributors and AIBs.
Anyway, I though the mining rumours had been dismissed on other forums. The 128MB cache might be great for gaming and efficiency, but Ethereum has always been designed to be very memory intensive and in a way that a cache can't really help.
Some people reckon they did but was short lived as mining cards tended to fail earlier/quicker than non mining...
I'm hearing that there is more supply but demand is even higher than for 30XX cards as someone has said. Today the usual suspects in youtube land all showed off the cards and they all appeared to have a 6800 and 6800XT. Linus Tech Tips, Gamer Meld all did unboxing vids

The financials for that period, as well as the usual investor calls covered the rise in income for both companies for the Bitcoin madness. The more they sold, the more income and profit they make compared to comparable quarters, I'm also certain the retailers / distributors and AIBs all gained as a consequence as well.

Thanks. There's one for £666, I was really hoping for something starting with a '5'. I'll wait and see what Amazon, Scan and ebuyer come up with and will check the AMD website on release day. They don't seem to be shouting about the release so my guess is that they don't have many cards to sell at the moment. Shame. Anyway, I'll get the 5600X soon (hopefully) and see what is in the Black Friday sales. I'll have to survive on my existing GTX 960 for a while longer.
Prediction time:
1) Non DXR Performance will be roughly on part with the Nvidia cards, ignoring heavily AMD or Nvidia optimised titles. Cue a bunch of cancelled 30xx orders.
2) Supply will be similar to Ampere in terms of the demand ratio - so these will sell out within seconds and pre-orders within minutes
3) AIB cards will still be in a range (more than reference) with will focus on supply of the higher end models
4) Distributors will put the wholesale price up after the first wave, leading to redditors & other internet users deciding to call out retailers for scalping (which in most cases, isn't happening. Excluding a certain Newcastle-under-Lyme based retailer who will continue to bump prices, take unlimited pre-orders and screw over their customers)
5) By early 2021 they will be available at normal prices again
6) Reddit will be up in arms, regardless of what happens.
I will be watching with interest. Really hope I am proved wrong too and we see decent supply AND consistently better performance than the Nvidia cards, but we'll see.

The more you live, less you die. More you play, more you die. Isn't it great.
Mostly agree - I'm being still told by people who know that demand for these is a lot higher than even NV 30XX cards was (2x is about the expectation) so although I'm a bit bummed that cards won't be available I can't see how AMD could have done anything more. They are churning out x-box and ps5 SoC's, Ryzen 5000 cpu's and now Radeon 6000 series gpu's as fast as possible but this year and it's unique nature have made the tech world go crazy!

The reference design looks a lot neater than I imagined in would be, even with the beefiness of the 6800XT. Given the gamer design from the showcase I thought it would be a lot more gaudy.
Spoke to two major UK retailers today where I have accounts and they both advised they have ZERO reference cards for sale tomorrow. The did advise they will have stock of AIB cards for 25th November. Another paper launch it seems.
Yes AMD should wait until summer 2021 and then launch with plenty of stock, i am sure AIB partners would like to be making GFX cards for months they are not able to sell before a set date in the distant future.
And yes 6 months are distant in this case.
Re: stock. I'm hearing us in the UK have been screwed over and that stock is available in other countries - especially the US. It appears that demand is sky high and they have prioritised other areas before us, again (NV did the same basically)
One person I spoke to said it's because the UK is effectively on lockdown so we'd let it slide....
